Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UAA) shapes, advances and stewards a world-class undergraduate academic experience for students at the University of Washington. Staff, faculty and students in UAA deepen and enrich the learning experience for all undergraduates, recognizing and supporting the unique learning path of each individual student and the commitment of each academic program to excellence in learning and teaching.
Within UAA, the Halbert and Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars (RC) at the University of Washington is a leader in the nation for developing programs that serve highly capable young pre-college and college students. Through access to early entrance programming, the RC prepares younger students for college, providing them with challenging and accelerated learning opportunities in a vibrant, intellectual community setting. The RC provides outreach through summer and Saturday enrichment, educator professional learning, and online engagement opportunities.
**Position Description:**
The Robinson Center (RC) is seeking a Program Manager for Teaching and Learning to provide leadership in instructional support, curriculum alignment, and professional development for the Enrichment Programs. This position plays a central role in shaping programmatic instructional standards, overseeing accessibility and accommodation processes, and ensuring that student learning needs are met with creativity, equity, and accountability.
Primary responsibilities include curriculum review and alignment, instructor and teaching aide recruitment and training, professional development design and delivery, supervision of instructional support staff, and oversight of instructional and student support processes.
This position requires a collaborative and collegial approach with campus and community partners, administrators, and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the learning experience of K-12 students. The Program Manager will apply discretion and independent judgment in resolving instructional concerns, interpreting policy, and addressing student accessibility and accommodation requests, escalating only high-stakes issues to the Director. The position requires a thorough understanding of K-12 and higher education policies related to equity, compliance, training, and educational programming.

The Program Manager will analyze trends in instructional practices, student support needs, and program spending to provide recommendations and assist the Director with developing budgets, processes, and strategic goals.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Teaching & Learning: Instructional Leadership & Assessment (65%)**
+ Leads instructional support and related strategic initiatives for all Enrichment programs, serving as the subject matter expert in instructional practices and student accessibility.
+ Oversees and conducts instructional evaluations and classroom observations of Enrichment instructors, providing documented feedback and individualized coaching.
+ Develops and implements teaching and learning standards in alignment with program goals, exercising independent judgment to adapt and refine practices.
+ Ensures inclusive, culturally and linguistically sustaining practices are embedded in curricula, working with instructors to analyze and improve instructional materials across programs.
+ Designs and delivers professional development and training for instructors and teaching aides, ensuring alignment with instructional standards and program values.
+ Partners with the Director and Program Manager to shape course offerings that reflect student needs, interests, and program priorities.
+ Assumes primary responsibility for resolving instructional issues and accessibility or accommodation requests, applying policy interpretation and discretion in decision-making.
+ Consults with SEL staff and student counselors to develop comprehensive support systems for students and families.
+ Leads the accessibility and accommodation processes, identifying trends and recommending strategies to improve instructional and student support practices.
+ Partners with the Director and Program Manager to develop, update, and implement programmatic policies and procedures that create accessible and inclusive learning spaces.
+ Monitors and analyzes program spending related to instructional staff recruitment and training; provides recommendations to the Director to support budget development and ensure resources align with program priorities.
+ Collaborates with the Program Manager on recruitment of teaching staff to ensure alignment with program goals and values.
+ Ensures training and instructional staff compliance with UW's Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator requirements.
**Professional Development (20%)**
+ Assists the Director of Enrichment and Professional Development in creating a program-wide professional development strategy aligned with RC and UAA diversity and inclusion goals.
+ Independently designs and identifies professional learning opportunities for RC staff to advance instructional excellence and programmatic priorities.
+ Coordinates, arranges, and provides professional development opportunities for staff through RC events, UW offerings, and external providers.
+ Provides ongoing instructional support to instructors for creating differentiated, culturally and linguistically sustaining curricula.
+ Pursues professional learning to model instructional excellence and remain current on innovative practices in pedagogy and student support.
**Program Operation and Administration (10%)**
+ Advises families and students on course offerings, helping them navigate registration and program opportunities.
+ Oversees aspects of instructor hiring and HR processes, ensuring compliance with program and institutional standards.
+ Contributes to reviewing and refining program policies and procedures to enhance workflow efficiency and align outcomes with strategic goals.
+ Tracks program activities to ensure they reflect program standards and strategic priorities.
+ Supports the Director in developing and implementing an annual engagement plan aligned with RC goals.
+ Represents the Enrichment Program at recruitment and partnership events (including some evenings/weekends, off-campus).
+ Builds and strengthens partnerships with on- and off-campus collaborators to advance program growth and sustainability.
+ Advances equity and diversity initiatives to increase participation of underrepresented students and instructors.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Contribution to the Robinson Center (RC) - (5%)**
+ Participates in RC special projects as assigned and performs related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
+ Actively collaborates with other RC programs to advance the goals of the Center.
+ Serves on UAA and campus committees as needed.
**Participate in professional development and contribute to the functioning of the RC and Undergraduate Academic Affairs**
+ Actively collaborate within the RC to advance the goals of the Center;
+ Serve on appropriate RC and/or UAA committees where relevant and schedules allow;
+ Participate in staff professional development opportunities as relevant to this position.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
+ Minimum 3-4 years of teaching experience in K-12 or enrichment learning environments.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
+ Demonstrated experience with curriculum development, instructional coaching, or teacher training.
+ Strong understanding of culturally and linguistically sustaining pedagogy and inclusive teaching practices.Experience working with diverse student populations, including historically underserved communities.
+ Familiarity with youth protection policies and compliance in educational settings.
+ Ability to lead and manage multiple instructional staff members and provide constructive feedback.
+ Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with staff, faculty, families, and external partners.
+ Commitment to the core values of equity, inclusion, and belonging in educational spaces.
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Master's degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.
+ Formal training or certification in instructional coaching, educational leadership, or teacher mentoring.
+ 2+ years of combined experience in teaching, instructional leadership, and curriculum design.
+ Experience with professional development design and delivery for educators.
+ Familiarity with higher education environments or university-affiliated programs.
+ Experience supervising instructional staff or managing educational teams.
+ Knowledge of or experience working with social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks.
+ Fluency in a language other than English and/or experience working in multilingual education contexts.Demonstrated success in building partnerships with schools, universities, or community organizations.
+ Experience using data and feedback to evaluate and improve instruction and programming.
