Responsibilities
- Assisting licensed staff in the classroom
- Aid students in meeting their individualized education plan (IEP)
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Work with individuals and/or small groups when activities and assignments are presented
- Provides support for students in crisis
- Utilize a variety of learning methods to enhance the student's learning experiences and support them as needed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 1+ Years Experience working with children
- Applicants must have professional proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

**Pay Range** : $3,000 per 3-credit course. Courses with low enrollment (less than 12 students) may be canceled. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience, qualifications, and teaching assignments. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
**Work Location** : Determined by course modality: Hybrid.

**Summary**
The College of Education ( at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of **Lecturers** in the Department of **Teaching and Learning** from which future appointments of temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
Qualified applicants will be placed in the department pool and will be considered for part-time departmental needs to teach courses for programs in the Department of Teaching and Learning. Classes primarily meet in-person, on-campus, but courses could also be offered hybrid or online.
**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Teach no more than 9 credit hours per semester. Topics areas to be taught may include: Schools, Society, and Diversity; Children's Literature; Educational Psychology; Inclusive Education Foundations; Literacy, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics Methods and Content Courses; Child Development; Family Diversity; Early Childhood Center Administration; Child-Centered Inclusive Instruction; Assessment; Universal Design for Learning; Classroom Management; Health and PE for Elem Teachers; Arts Integration for Elem Teachers; Collaboration and Co-Teaching; Gifted and Talented Education; Special Education; Multisensory Education; Language Acquisition; English Second Language for Educators; Field Experience and Practicum.
+ Follow posted syllabus and Canvas content.
+ Effectively use Canvas, an online learning management system.
+ Create highly engaging learning experiences related to course outcomes.
+ Gather and assess evidence of student learning in accordance with course expectations.
+ Use effective distance and online learning methods.
+ Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner.
+ Implement culturally responsive practices.
A lecturer's duties include: meeting assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university, college/school, and department policies; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies; being available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.

**Salary:** Generally $1,000 per credit hour. Supervision courses are 3, 6, or 12 credits. Supervision loads less than 12 students may be canceled. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

**Summary**
The College of Education ( at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of **Lecturers** in the Department of **Teaching and Learning** from which future appointments of temporary, non-tenure track positions for supervising teacher candidates in field placements will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. Temporary lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. Temporary lecturer appointments will accrue sick leave.
Qualified applicants will be placed in the department pool and will be considered for part-time departmental needs to supervise student teacher candidates in Inclusive Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The majority of student teacher supervision occurs in-person. Due to specific location and programming, some student teacher candidates, however, may require hybrid or remote supervision.
**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Participate in the interview and selection process of prospective teacher candidates
+ Work with the principal to find appropriate placements for teacher candidates at the school site
+ Attend monthly meetings for UCCS University Supervisors
+ Formally observe each teacher candidate multiple times a semester
+ Utilize video observation tools (e.g., GoReact) to evaluate and give feedback to teacher candidates
+ Complete Educator Disposition Assessments for teacher candidates and enter these evaluations and formal observation evaluations for mentor teachers into an assessment database
+ Grade teacher candidates' work submitted in an assessment database (lesson plans, lesson reflections, video analysis assignments, etc.)
+ Conduct regular visits at the school site to address concerns, provide information about school policies and programs, clarify expectations, and provide guidance for the development of resume/cover letter/ interview skills
+ Meet individually with mentor teachers to discuss teacher candidates' growth and needs
+ Ensure effective communication about expectations and support for the work and concerns of mentor teachers and teacher candidates
+ Meet with each teacher candidate individually for midterm evaluation
+ Complete a summative evaluation of each teacher candidate at the end of each semester
+ Participate in local scoring of edTPA and/or other program-specific performance assessment
+ Participate in scoring of the teacher candidates' program portfolios
+ Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner
+ Implement culturally responsive practices
