Job Summary and QualificationsThe Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures as ordered by a physician. This role focuses on the day-to-day activities that ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care within a diagnostic and therapeutic environment.
What you'll do in this role:
- Perform a variety of imaging procedures as ordered by a physician.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform surgery and portable exams.
- Accurately follow physician orders.
- Document the completion of exams in Meditech.
- Scan documents and verify images in PACS.
- Follow proper procedures for quality controls and HLD related to equipment and accessories.
- Properly document a patient's history, including lab values.
What qualifications you'll need:
- Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- ARDMS registered or must acquire registration within 6 months of hire.
- Current BLS certification.
- New hires will be considered, but 1-2 years of experience preferred.
- RVT Registered Vascular Technologist must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- RDMS-AB RDMS Abdomen Specialty must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- RDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Performs physician defined routine and specialized ultrasound procedures. Performs complex tasks associated with the operations of ultrasound equipment to produce high quality ultrasound images. The ultrasound technologist is responsible for maintaining a safe ultrasound environment at all times.

Responsibilities
- Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
- Ensures the sonography examination order is complete and contains relevant information.
- Conducts patient clinical assessment. Obtains and documents pertinent clinical information and technical findings for review by physician for order clarification and follow-through.
- Identifies and documents any limitations to the sonography examination.
- Reviews examination images, synthesizes examination results, and prepares preliminary findings for physician prior to physician interpretation.
- Documents any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care.
- Demonstrates competency in critical thinking skills, including demonstration of competency in addressing the age-specific needs of the patient population served.
- Follows established processes for supply charging, stock maintenance, and vendor ordering.
- Performs complex tasks associated with the operation of an ACR accredited ultrasound department and related equipment to produce high quality ultrasound images.
- Selects appropriate associated equipment/data manipulation to achieve desired results with factors influencing data acquisition.
- Technically proficient in the operation and quality control aspects of scanning and image recording equipment specific to the assigned work area.
- Identifies and screens patient. Obtains patient history, completes and verifies accurate consents, informed consents, and/or permits as needed.
- Performs quality imaging procedures through technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocols.
- Assists physicians with US procedures when needed. Follows the Joint Commission procedures regarding medication preparation/usage on patient for minimally invasive procedures.
- Follows policy regarding time out prior to minimally invasive procedures being performed. Practices aseptic technique and uses universal precautions.
- Applies appropriate infection prevention techniques and processes.
- Provides patient instructions/education to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety during exams.
- Positions patients for ultrasound imaging using immobilization and protective equipment to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
- Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting the patient's ability, safety, and comfort.
- Provides for psychological and physical needs of patients for ultrasound imaging procedures. Proficient in patient assessment and monitoring.
- Adheres to the facility policies and procedures, ACR regulations, the Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory compliance for ultrasound department/facility.
- Provides patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for Diagnostic Sonographer. Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures and assists patients, families, practitioners, and visitors, as needed.
- Proficient in required data entry, record maintenance, and statistical data. Technically proficient in the operation and quality control aspects of scanning and image recording equipment specific to the assigned work area.
- Maintains patient's confidential records, reports, and files, following established HIPAA guidelines.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Radiologic Technologist is the primary liaison between patients, departmental physicians, and other members of the support team. They must remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills.
The Radiologic Technologist must:
+ Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
+ Maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiologic positioning and exposure techniques.
+ Maintain knowledge about radiation protection and safety.
The Radiologic Technologist prepares for and assists the physician in the completion of intricate radiologic examinations. They prepare and administer contrast media in accordance with state, federal, and hospital regulations.
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in this department.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
+ Assess patients' and families' ability to learn and incorporate teaching.
+ Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and procedures for the radiological department.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Graduation from an accredited education program in Radiologic Technology.
+ **ARRT R.T. (R)** (denotes successful completion of the ARRT certification examination) or registry eligible.
+ Must be registry eligible and obtain **ARRT** within 6 months of the hire date; if not obtained, termination will occur.
+ One year of post-graduate experience is strongly preferred.
+ **American Heart Association BLS** certification is required.
