**Role Summary**
We are seeking a technically strong and innovation-driven specialist to lead the exploration, prototyping, and validation of advanced technologies in pumps, valves, mechanical seals, and related flow control solutions. This role requires a techno-commercial mindset to transform new ideas into feasible, high-impact solutions that address target customer needs. The Innovation Specialist will play a hands-on role in design, testing, and proof-of-concept development while also contributing to business case evaluations and strategic growth initiatives.
**Responsibilities**
+ **Innovation & Design**
+ Drive the generation of new designs, methods, and solutions for pump, valve, and seal applications and adjacent technologies.
+ Apply design-thinking and structured innovation frameworks to explore new concepts grounded in customer needs.
+ Collaborate with engineering and product teams to proactively identify patentable inventions, trade secrets, and other intellectual property generated during the innovation process.
+ **Prototyping & Testing**
+ Develop prototypes, models, and proof-of-concepts for validation with internal teams and customers.
+ Plan, execute, and oversee physical and simulation-based tests to evaluate feasibility, performance, and reliability.
+ Apply design of experiments (DoE), root cause analysis, and risk evaluation to ensure robust outcomes.
+ **Techno-Commercial Assessment**
+ Conduct feasibility assessments that balance technical performance with cost, manufacturability, and commercial impact.
+ Support business case development through technical validation, competitive benchmarking, and risk/benefit analysis.
+ Work closely with Product management team to demonstrate the unique value proposition and sharpen the business case through pilot or proof of value (POV) efforts.
+ Execute a strategic "Build, Buy, or Partner" approach to accelerate technology development and deployment, making data-driven decisions on whether to develop technology internally, acquire it, or form a strategic partnership.
+ **Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing**
+ Partner with engineering, product management, and strategy teams to align innovation with business objectives.
+ Share expertise across teams through technical reports, coaching, and training sessions.
+ Author and present technical papers at industry forums, enhancing credibility and visibility.
+ **Technology Scanning & Continuous Learning**
+ Monitor market and technology trends to identify future opportunities for innovation.
+ Maintain expertise in mechanical engineering principles and key innovation areas such as additive manufacturing, advanced materials, coatings, and digital tools.
+ Represent Flowserve in innovation forums driving technical engagement and interaction with industry leaders, partners, and competitors.
**Requirements:**
+ A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or a related field is required.
+ Minimum 10 years in R&D, product innovation, or applied engineering, preferably in pumps, valves, mechanical seals, or rotating equipment.
+ Candidates must demonstrate capabilities in one or more critical technology domains including:
+ Fluid Dynamics: Expertise in fluid mechanics, CFD, and understanding of fluid behavior in pump and seal applications.
+ Mechatronics: Knowledge of control systems, sensors, actuators, and the integration of mechanical and electrical systems for smart solutions.
+ Thermal Management: Experience with heat transfer principles, thermal modeling, and system design for heat dissipation and control.

**Description**
**Ground Beef Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift - Hours: 5:30am to 6:00am**
**Purpose & Scope:** Maintains, tests, repairs, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. This position applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles to insure consistent reliable operation of the technical equipment within and around a production area
**Principle Responsibilities** : List and describe (in order of importance) the specific tasks, assignments, level of discretionary authority and/or functions performed.
+ Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
+ Develops and executes planned maintenance programs for equipment within and supporting production areas.
+ Develops and executes training for the maintenance team to insure proper skill level is maintained to support the equipment for this operation.
+ Works with the Corporate Engineering controls team to plan and execute technology based projects.
+ Insure compliance to Local, State and Federal safety programs and works with the facility safety team to insure plant programs meet these requirements. **Working Conditions:**
+ Physical demands: Climbing including ladders, lifting, working with a variety of hand and power tools, shop machines and tools.
+ Work environment: Must be able to work in areas of heat, and cold conditions.
+ This position will work a rotating shift assigned to either days or nights. Education: Minimum of High SchoolPreferred an associates on a technical or mechanical vocation.
+ **Experience** :
+ 1-2 years' experience in an industrial production facility or trade experience preferred.

+ Must be able to learn quickly and make good decisions
+ Must be able to work in a team environment and perform a variety of duties

Over one million lbs (450,000 kg) of beef are produced each day. The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant. The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with ISO 14001. Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.

This hands-on role requires extensive short-notice travel, with some assignments lasting more than two months. Candidates must be able to work effectively in demanding operational environments, both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical problem-solving skills, a desire to help others, and comfort training customers in both formal and on-the-job settings. Experience in a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) supporting advanced weapons systems such as: 14X, 1CX, 1D7, 1Z3, 2171, 2848, 2887, Electronics Technician or Fire Controlman. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge defense technologies and contribute directly to mission success. Responsibilities include: Diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex systems utilizing manuals, schematics, and reach back support for various electro/mechanical issues that may arise. Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues independently or in collaboration with others. Reporting design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to design and software engineering teams. Serving as the primary interface with customers while on site. Supporting other company functional areas such as customer installation and training. Proficiency with common diagnostic test equipment, including digital multimeters (DMM) and oscilloscopes. Recognizes performance degradation and provides actionable recommendations to restore or enhance system efficiency. Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen.
