JOB SUMMARY:

Manage the organization's computer systems, networks, and technology infrastructure. Provide effective team leadership to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of IT systems and implement technology strategies to support business goals. Responsibilities include infrastructure management, security and compliance, technical support, project management, and vendor relations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  5. Plan, budget, and execute IT projects, including new system implementations and upgrades.
  6. Manage relationships with IT vendors, support negotiation of contracts, and ensure quality service delivery.
  7. Lead and mentor IT staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  8. With the IS Director, contribute to the development and implementation of IT strategies aligned with business objectives.
  9. Oversee the IT portion of the budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and managing financial resources.
  10. Regularly assess the effectiveness and security of IT systems and recommend improvements.
  11. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents involving different platforms, operating systems, applications and desktop configurations.
  • Researching, evaluating and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns.

Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment.

Responsibilities Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in Information Technology principles, concepts, and methods to support Information Technology systems and services. This position starts at a salary of $114,890.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $149,359.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this Supervisory Information Technology Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing support and guidance on Information Technology systems and services. Typical work assignments include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents involving different platforms, operating systems, applications and desktop configurations.
  • Researching, evaluating and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns.

Experience must include:
+ Testing complex systems with multiple workstreams requiring multiple levels of collaboration and coordination of testing cycles while maintaining quality standards established by the QA Lead.
+ Creating comprehensive quality assurance documentation, including test plans, test cases, defect reports, and acceptance criteria.
+ Skill in manual testing across various types (including functional, UI, integration, and regression testing) and in coordinating test schedules and progress of test activities against project plan.
+ Sufficient software development knowledge to understand basic logic and functions for testing large scale web applications, with multiple programming languages and software development technologies including the JAVA stack and .NET stack tools and SQL.
