Position Summary: The Employment Specialist provides employment readiness training coaching and support for disconnected youth ages 18-24 at the Next Generation Center. This position sources and obtains career internship and training opportunities for youth.
Essential Duties:
- Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Sourcing and obtaining appropriate employment, internship, and training opportunities for transition youth.
- Developing strong relationships with employer partners and facilitating activities with employers including site visits, recruiting events, career presentations, job shadowing, and other employment-related activities.
- Assisting youth with the preparation of job search documents such as resumes, references, and job applications (online or on paper).
- Providing ongoing post-placement support and troubleshooting for youth after placement in internships/employment.
- Maintaining ongoing communication and positive relationships with employers/internship hosts, including troubleshooting.
- Facilitating employment readiness groups on topics including, but not limited to career exploration, job search strategies, workplace skills, interviewing skills, goal setting, and career advancement.

Collaborate with the youth's Life Coach and other program staff in the interest of the youth's development of employability skills. - Ability to work a flexible work schedule; within the hours of operation of the Next Generation Center.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.

+ Provides strategic employment advice and counseling to HR and business leaders on a wide variety of employment law matters across the U.S. and Canada, to ensure that policies, practices and decisions comply with applicable laws. Job Path is seeking an energetic, responsible, and creative person to manage a caseload of people who are currently employed. The Employment Counselor is responsible for ensuring that the people they support are able to maintain and grow in their jobs and careers. Employment Counselors must be proactive, seeking out ways for a person to grow on the job and by identifying issues before they jeopardize a person’s employment.
Employment Counselors must be reliable and punctual; in order for the people we support to be successful in their jobs.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:
- Provide ongoing support to a caseload of ten to fifteen people in our employment program
- Developing strategies for participants to build on their work skills to be able to complete tasks as independently as possible
- Help people work through issues that may arise on the job by using creative problem solving
- Encourage participants to learn new skills to grow at their jobs
- Develop positive relationships with participants’ coworkers, supervisors and managers
- Work with employers to guarantee their satisfaction with Job Path services
- Assist people to grow in their careers, which may include but is not limited to assistance with skill building, advocacy and job development
- Serve as an active team member by attending team meetings, trainings, contributing new ideas and maintaining ongoing communications with supervisor(s)
- Ongoing communication with families
- Communication with network for support - including Care Managers and other people involved in the lives of people receiving services
- Be flexible and available to provide support to participants as needed. Occasionally, one may need to be available to provide support on weekends or outside of the standard work day, depending on the work schedule of the people we support. .
- Provide training and guidance to Direct Support Professionals who are supporting people on your caseload
Documentation and Billing
- Complete a daily hours chart to document all services provided
- Submit detailed case notes for all billable services on a daily basis into the electronic record keeping system
- Complete a monthly summary that details services provided and progress for each person on a caseload
- Attend and provide feedback at Life Plan meetings twice a year for each person we support, creating and submitting Staff Action Plan
Location : This position requires two days of presence in Job Path’s midtown Manhattan office and travel around the city to develop employment and support people on the job. Hybrid remote option is available on non-office/support days.
Qualifications: BA degree preferred or a combination of high school diploma or equivalency and related experience. Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities a plus.

Job Overview
The Senior Paralegal supports the Employment Law Team by managing employment-related litigation and performing varied tasks to further the team’s mission of employment compliance across the organization and within client groups.
Responsibilities
Litigation and claims support:
- Manage and track employment-related lawsuits, charges, and claims from inception to resolution, coordinating with internal and external counsel.
- Conduct fact-gathering, implement litigation holds, collect and organize responsive documents and data, identify key witnesses, and participate in witness interviews. Update, maintain, and analyze data used to track employment-related matters across the organization, identifying trends and mitigation strategies.
- Review and revise discovery materials, pleadings, and related documents, supporting attorneys and company witnesses in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Create and maintain communications and template materials related to various litigation topics.
Records requests and employment related subpoenas:
- Analyze and respond to third-party subpoenas and records requests, identifying and compiling relevant company documents and information.
Advice and counsel support:
- Advise and partner with HR and business leaders on employment matters, including terminations, investigations, workplace accommodations, performance management, contingent workforce, restrictive covenants, RIFs, and reorganizations.
- Conduct legal research on employment law topics, providing practical, business-oriented recommendations.
- Create and present training content to internal stakeholders, prepare presentations, training materials, and legal documents as requested by in-house attorneys.
- Liaise with Senior Executives, business leaders, and stakeholders across HR, Payroll, IT, Finance, and Employee Relations, maintaining records and supporting the Employment Law Team.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of litigation paralegal experience required; employment law or class action experience is a plus.
- Experience in-house or at a large law firm supporting litigation or employment matters required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; familiarity with Westlaw or similar legal research tools preferred.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative engagement and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required. High attention to detail and sound business judgment required.

Lifting Up Westchester's Job Central was created to address an unmet need - the financial stability of unemployed and underemployed very low-income adults, as well as older youth, experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty. Job Central staff assist individuals with employment counseling, strengthening job readiness skills, and finding employment with opportunities for advancement. Once employed individuals receive case management services to support job retention and their ability to become independent and self-sufficient.
The Employment Specialist works alone and as part of a team to help individuals find suitable full- and part-time employment and/or vocational training, to provide retention support for 12 months post-placement, and to develop relationships with employers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administer and effectively analyze vocational assessments to support participants in developing a realistic career path to meet their professional goals and objectives.
• Coach and assist with cover letters, resumes, job and education-related applications. Help participants obtain required documents, when appropriate.
• Prepare participants for job interviews.
• Effectively engage at-risk and shelter-based participants to encourage participation in employment, educational, or other related skills-based development opportunities.
• Provide retention services to support maintaining employment and fostering self-sufficiency such as conflict resolution, reducing performance obstacles, workplace etiquette, encouraging upward mobility/job growth/new opportunities, and seeking educational enhancement.
• Participate as a presenter for some training workshops offered by Job Central. (Topics may include resume preparation, interview skills, employer relations, among others).

• Accurately prepare and enter progress notes weekly into the LUW database for participants, detailing interactions, observations, progress or challenges in meeting set goals and action items.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the social services field, particularly in the employment sector.
2. Experience, comfort, and desire to work with vulnerable populations (i.e. homeless, extremely low income, persons with disabilities, re-entry, and individuals who have fled from domestic violence.)
3. Possess connections to businesses and industries throughout Westchester County (preferred).
4. Bachelor's degree in social service, education, public relations or business/human services.
5. Solid computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.
