Medical Oncology G21 Unit: The unit is a 48-bed four-pod intermediate medical oncology unit providing care to adult and geriatric patients ranging in age from Patients treated on G21 include those with colorectal, gastrointestinal, and lung cancer receiving complex chemotherapeutic and bio-immunotherapeutic regimens, management of treatment side effects and complications, and supportive care. Inaddition, G21 is the primary unit for patients with a wide range of acute non-cancer related medical problems and those requiring cardiac monitoring and infusion of cardiac medications.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Responsible for opening sterile supplies, assisting with patient positioning, coordinating and assisting with the set up and cleanup of the operating rooms as well as assisting team members in the delivery of patients to and from the operating room
1. Reviews the OR schedule daily, tracking and monitoring the necessary pick‐up and delivery of patients to and from the operating rooms as needed to ensure timely surgical starts
2. Opens and assists the team with supplies, instrument sets, suture selection and meeting benchmark turnovers
3. Assists the surgical suite in patient positioning, surgical preps, clipping and aids in the retrieving of x‐rays, equipment set up and tracking and removing instruments to and from the operating room suites
4. Rounds within their assigned surgical rooms to ensure that all turnovers are met and Supports the necessary patient movement and flow
5. Assists Registered Nurses, Surgical Scrubs and the Surgeons while preventing the disruption of the surgical case by retrieving supplies, relaying messages and managing the ancillary support of the surgical team
6. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team members and provides the necessary support and knowledge of surgical supplies, instruments and sutures
7. Sets up and tears down laparoscopic equipment, ensuring that printers, cameras and tubing is properly processed and arranged
8. Ensures that used surgical instruments are cleaned, replaced and properly returned to the decontamination department within SPD
9. Assists in the pre‐operative patient preparation once the patient has arrived in the operating room/includes placing grounding pad on patient and ensuring that the device is properly connected
