**SUMMARY:**
Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from Patient Care Areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas including expired patients to the morgue.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:**
Transport stable, non-monitored patients from Patient Care Areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas (such as CT, X-ray, Angio, Hemo) and to inpatient units for admissions.
Able to effectively communicate with the patient, family, visitors, and the direct care providers.
Transporters are to directly speak with the RN or the Healthcare Provider prior to a transport and when the patient returns to the unit.
Transporters are to assist the patient with his/her restroom needs as necessary.
Able to safely transfer patients using a transfer device such as a patient sling, slide board, or other hospital approved transfer devices.
Cleans transport equipment between each patient use.
Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen, and other necessary equipment to perform transports. Replaces oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).
Provides directions to families and/or visitors
Maintains current BLS certification.
Attends and participates in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.
Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice.
Demonstrates unit/area competencies.
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.
Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.
Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health.
Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
Education: High school diploma or GED recommended.
Experience: Prior Healthcare experience is not required.
Certification/Licensure: Basic cardiac life support required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent customer service skills Able to effectively organize work assignments Must be a self-starter - transporters work without the direction of a dispatcher and have the autonomy to select his/her next transports. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with co-workers and a variety of Health System personnel when transporting a patient. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Intensive walking between 12 to 15 miles in an 8-hour shift. Ability to walk or stand for hours at a time. Ability to push wheelchair or stretcher weighing up to 700 lbs.

**Education**
+ High school graduate or equivalent required.
+ Associate's degree in culinary arts is preferred. Refer to the Experience Section for exception of minimum qualifications.
**Special Skill / Aptitudes**
+ Must be able to pass the written and practical test given by the Executive Chef.
+ Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions accurately.
+ Must have thorough knowledge of all cooking styles, and be able to read, follow, and execute standardized recipes.
+ Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
**Experience**
+ Minimum of two (2) years as a cook in a high-volume full-service restaurant OR associate's degree in culinary arts.
+ Current Serve-Safe certification preferred.
**Duties / Responsibilities:**
+ Reviews menus and production sheets to determine the type and quantities of meats, vegetables, starches, and soups to be prepared.
+ Bakes, roasts, broils, sautés, and steams meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other foods as required and in a timely manner to maintain highest quality of product.
+ Slices or portions meats, fish and poultry for serving, to correct/ordered weight.
+ Facilitating the production of meals on the tray line.
+ Maintains the cooking area in a clean, neat, and orderly manner. Adheres to all regulatory agency requirements.
+ Attends all in-service education and other meetings as directed. Performs other duties as assigned and assists other associates when needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain areas such as patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, offices, etc., the Environmental Aide's essential duties include:
+ Cleaning all surfaces
+ Disinfecting all surfaces

+ Replenishing all supplies
+ Spot cleaning carpet and upholstery
+ Cleaning up spills
+ Changing linen and making beds
+ Operating vacuum cleaning equipment
+ Dust mopping and damp mopping floors, stairs, and landings
+ Disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste k. Reporting needed equipment repair and all unsafe situations
**SUMMARY:**
+ Walk and stand for approximately 90% of work time.
+ Frequently squat, kneel, and lift; Occasionally bend and twist.
+ Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
+ Lift, turn, push, pull, and position equipment; Ability to utilize safe body mechanics.
+ Identifies safety risks, provides feedback and helps address safety issues.
+ Actively follows safety policies, procedures and practices.

+ Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
+ Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places
+ Other duties as assigned

**JOB SUMMARY**
+ The CRNA, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist involved in the administration of various types of anesthesia and related services for surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and obstetrical procedures for pediatric through adult patients throughout the hospital.
+ Performance shall be under the overall direction of the Medical Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology or qualified designee and shall be responsible to the CRNA Manager.
+ Performs pre-anesthetic assessment including requesting appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies in preparation for administration of general, regional, or proper sedation.
+ Prepares room for anesthetic delivery, performing machine check and setting up necessary adjunctive equipment, checks readiness, availability and working condition of all equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents.
+ Prepares patient for anesthetic delivery.
+ Maintains accurate anesthesia delivery record and adjunct forms.
+ Records all pertinent events taking place during delivery of anesthetic.
+ Accompanies patient to PACU and provides immediate post-anesthesia care and reports to PACU personnel assuming responsibility for patient care.
+ Clinical responsibilities include accurate monitoring and assistance in cardiopulmonary resuscitation management, ventilation and life support measures inside and outside the OR suite.
+ Assists in data collection and case review for process improvement activities.
**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditations of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, or its predecessor.
+ Current state license in the State of Michigan.
+ CRNA Certification.

**I Accountability Objectives:**
Under the supervision of the Director and/or Supervisors of the Buildings & Grounds Department, the employee installs, inspects, repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, hospital furnishings and grounds.
**II Position Qualifications:**
Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.
**A. Education**
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Vocational school certificate.
**B. Licensure / Certification**
+ Valid State of Michigan driver's license.
**C Special Skill / Aptitudes**
+ Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanics.
+ Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
**D. Experience**
+ Technical, vocational or on-the-job training in at least three of the following: HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting or Engine Repair.

**III Duties / Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for the repair and/or replacement of components of plumbing and piping systems, including the cleaning of blocked drainage systems. Responsible for irrigation system maintenance and repair. Will not be responsible for new installation work. Will be able to solder pipe to 3/4" trade size for replacement
+ Responsible for the repair and/or replacement of components of electrical systems, utilizing voltages of 120 Volts nominal or less. Will not be responsible for new installation work.
+ Responsible for the repair and/or replacement of components of ceiling, wall, floor, door hardware and building hardware. Responsible for cleanliness of grounds, buildings, drives and parking lots. Will not be responsible for new installation work.
+ Responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of hospital equipment and furnishings, and for the replacement of defective parts or unsafe or malfunctioning parts.
+ Responsible for the welding and soldering of sheet metal and other metal products as required.
+ Responsible for correct material orders and amount requested. Utilize the department work order system to record time and material.
+ Responsible for snow and ice removal. Maintains safe walking and driving conditions.
+ Cleans and maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
+ Being available for "call-ins" and "on-call" status during inclement weather and for other emergency situations.
