**Job Description**
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
+ Manage incoming and outgoing shipments and ensure timely delivery
+ Review shipping documentation and ensure accuracy of information
+ Communicate with carriers and freight forwarders to arrange pick-up and delivery schedules
+ Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and reconciliations
+ Create and maintain shipping and receiving reports for management review
+ Coordinate with other departments to resolve discrepancies in shipments or deliveries
+ Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to shipping and receiving
+ Manage and organize warehouse space to optimize storage and minimize damage to products
+ Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, including answering questions and resolving issues related to shipping and receiving.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Experience-wise, candidates should have previous work experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or transportation. Good organizational, communication, and computer skills are essential. Training on industry-specific software may be provided on the job. Some physical requirements may also be necessary, such as lifting heavy packages or operating a forklift.

Material Handler

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary function of this role is to support warehouse operations and inventory management. In this role, you will take part in shipping and receiving using forklift, converting product to different packaged formats, taking inventory counts and housekeeping activities. This role helps ensure that areas of responsibility are clean, neat and organized, while work is being completed in the correct fashion. This person will report to and help support the Warehouse Manager and Production Planner in their efforts to fulfill on time, quality shipments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations

  • Assist in daily scheduled productions, ensuring that processing work is performed in an efficient & proactive manner.
    • Focus on both employee and food safety practices throughout all production activities
    • Label products according to standards (Product Number, Product Name, Lot, Date, and other requirements)
    • Monitor equipment and report any problems to supervisor
  • Assist in inventory counts and reconciliations using scan guns and other technologies
    • To account for inventory as it is received and brought to location
    • When bringing inventory out of location for either production activities
    • To account for product being shipped to customer locations
  • Maintain the appearance of the facilities – both inside and out.
  • Responsible for general sanitation functions:
    • Clean, including sweeping, mopping, shoveling, dusting, and vacuuming both inside and outside the facility as needed.

Safety

  • Lead, support and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program
  • Decision making practices that focus on employee and facility safety
  • Where trained, proactively identify and report to warehouse manager possible safety hazards.


Quality

  • Adhere to all Quality Assurance standards.
  • Decision making practices that focus and support food quality safety
  • Ensure all products are stored in the conditions necessary to maintain quality.
  • Ensure that products being produced meet all agreed quality standards and quickly recognize and report to supervisor any deviations from these standards minimizing rejections.

General Responsibilities

  • Required to adhere to the Company’s policies on Safety, Hygiene and good housekeeping. Specifically:

  • The Material Handler is responsible for supporting the fabrication shop with various duties such as loading and unloading steel from trucks, transferring steel to production table, and using a forklift as needed.

Job Title:  Warehouse Shipping/ Material Handler

Location:  Richmond, CA

Pay:  $19/hr (Weekly pay + benefits + overtime)

Contract:  4–6 months (Excellent potential for extension or permanent)

Hours:  Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (OT available)

**MUST HAVE: Stable work; and need to have Warehouse experience handling materials.


Role Overview

The Material Handler will support all material handling functions  within our distribution operations. Responsibilities include processing, picking, packing, labeling, and preparing materials for shipment. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment, including cold storage areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble boxes, label, and process/pick materials in cold environments.
  • Pick, pack, carry, sort, and stage packages.
  • Prepare domestic and international goods for shipment.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing goods against documentation.
  • Perform initial quality checks on incoming products.
  • Load and unload trucks, pallets, and other distribution containers.
  • Operate motorized and non-motorized equipment (pallet jacks, lift assist, etc.) to move materials.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and material scrapping as needed.
  • Follow written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Support warehouse objectives by rotating tasks and flexing between areas of operation throughout the day.
  • Adhere to safety standards and quality guidelines.
  • Attend work on time, follow break schedules, and demonstrate flexibility to meet operational needs.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of related experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or production.
  • Experience in verifying materials that are picked and staged to ensure they get shipped accurately
  • Pre-packing and packing outbound shipments
  • Sorting, segregating, and staging outbound parcels
  • Stacking and loading pallets
  • Preparing cold chain parcels with refrigerants
  • Labeling and marking outbound cartons
  • Comfortable with working in a cold environments.
  • Basic computer skills, including warehouse management systems and RF scanning devices.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or move for extended periods (6–10 hours/day).
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and lift assist machines.
  • Steel-toe shoes required.
  • Must pass background and drug screening.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Support operations by moving material and inventory throughout the facility
  • Use hand trucks, conveyors or other material handling equipment
  • Perform duties that may include packing, scanning, kitting or counting products
  • Verify orders, label products and use a handheld scanner
  • Adhere to the 7S program
  • Maintain a clean environment at all times
  • Work in a safe manner that protects you and your team members

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • To be at least 18 years of age
  • The ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedural documents
It'd be great if you also have:
  • 1 year of experience in a warehouse environment
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including possible overtime when needed
  • Experience using a handheld scanner
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work in a team to achieve goals and objectives
