Purpose: The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patients in cooperation with the supervising physician, following Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policies. They administer anesthesia, monitor patients' reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and inform the anesthesiologist of any adverse conditions that may threaten patient safety.
Responsibilities:
+ Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support.
+ Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines
+ Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
+ Performs according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards
+ Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
+ Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program required.
+ Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws required.

The Behavioral Health (BH) Navigator I is responsible for the assessment and navigation of patients and families in collaboration with attending psychiatrists and other staff within the Emergency Department at UPMC Altoona. The BH Navigator I will develop initial treatment plans to facilitate disposition planning and assists with bed placement or disposition planning.
The shifts will rotate between days, evenings, and nights, but will typically include two 10-hour shifts.

**Hours:** Three 12-hour shifts
**Position Specifics:** We are recruiting a team of four (4) inpatient APPs who will work alongside the physicians to run the Stroke Service, to include, but not be limited to: Treating ICU and surgical patients, attending emergent Stroke codes and floor patients. This role is responsible for responding to the stroke codes during daytime hours to help provide emergent care for suspected stroke patients. APPs are trained to read neuro imaging including CT's, MRI's, interpret necessary lab works. Initial training period the schedule will be five 8-hour shifts then will transition to three 12-hour shifts.
**Department Details:** The stroke team has 4 physicians - 2 of which are neurointerventionalists who specialize in intracranial clot removal in emergent large vessel occlusion strokes.

+ The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or a graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is required
+ BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP, BS or MS preferred for PA
+ Completion of National Certification?
+ Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually
+ Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position?
+ Must have department chair approval for promotion
+ ACLS or?ITLS or?NALS or?PALS or?ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire?
OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant, and value added to the practice setting.
