Job Title: Material Handler
Location: Piscataway, New Jersey

Responsibilities
+ Check inventory according to customer requests using the data general computer system.
+ Drive forklift to move products from racks to shipping area; print/apply labels, restack, and shrink-wrap pallets as needed.
+ Ensure product is packed/prepared per transport mode, following 49CFR, IATA/ICAO, and IMDG/IMO regulations.
+ Create paperwork including bill of ladings, certificates of analysis, packing lists, and SDS.
+ Load/unload outbound and inbound trucks in a timely manner; receive products based on purchase orders.
+ Interact with Customer Service, Production, and QC Labs regarding order status and changes.
+ Unload trucks, create paperwork, attach labels, sample products, submit to QC, and log details in data systems.
+ Move and locate pallets in warehouse and temperature-controlled storage (freezer/refrigerator).
+ Unload tankers of Propylene Glycol, Ethyl Alcohol, and juices.
+ Inspect vehicles to ensure required safety and sanitation criteria are met.
Qualifications
+ Trained and certified in 49CFR, IATA and IMDG shipping modals and/or hazmat general awareness.
+ 3-5 years of experience in a shipping and receiving environment. (Preferred)
+ Ability to wear PPE, including but not limited to respirators.
+ Ability to lift and carry boxes and pails weighting up to 60 lbs
+ Trained and certified in forklift operation.
+ Basic computer skills.
+ Knowledge of DG and batch metrics inventory system

What you’ll do:

  • Prevent contamination of materials; clean material dryers and hoses as required; ensure proper labels on material barrels and hoppers

  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Inspection material handling equipment as directed.
  • Loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:  

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred
  • Prior work experience of 10 to 12 months in the hazardous waste or chemical industry in a related position with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  

  • Ability to communicate through reading and writing
  • Trained in the use of material handling equipment

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:  

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Forklift Certified
  • Yard Truck Certified

Position Purpose:  
Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement of
solids and liquids. Under direct supervision, tasks could include all types of manual labor in cleaning and
decontamination operations, vacuum projects and handling, packing, re-packing, unloading and loading containers
for processing at site or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:  

  • Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.)
  • Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.

SUMMARY

Coordinates movement of parts and production orders throughout the shop floor, and the distribution of dispatch lists as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following.

· Distributes hard-copies of daily dispatch lists as required.

· Moves all parts and production orders throughout the shop in accordance with their respective routings by delivering them to the next work center listed on each production order.

· Identifies anomalies and makes every effort to solve issues (missing parts, missing paperwork, misplaced orders, etc.).

· Supports other PC functions (such as locating and stamping expedited orders, orders that are in need of a revision, orders that need to be cancelled, etc…).

· Additional duties may be assigned.
