Activities


  • Loading and unloading of materials from inbound and outbound trucks, containers by hand or equipment
  • Outbound process: Palletize, wrap, and band products for outbound shipment

  • Perform other distribution work functions as needed due to business volume and need

  • Organizes warehouse storage space effectively always works in a clean and orderly manner
  • Support purchase, planners team, and quality area when necessary
  • Assistance or execution of some other tasks that may come up during vacation or absence of another colleague (paperwork, etc)
  • Execution of required communications with customers, suppliers, carriers, freight forwarders or documents sending / receiving for warehousing subjects
  • Attach required outbound documents (Packing List, Invoice, BOL) to the shipments
  • Prepare related documents, print, get drivers signature and file them for inbound and outbound processes (e.g. BOL with cargo data)
  • Send the required documents (e.g. BOL signed by Argos and driver) and confirmations to customers (e.g. if the invoice was picked up by carrier), carriers and freight forwarders
Qualitications


  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds, as many warehouse items are cumbersome and heavy
  • Desirable experience in Office Package
  • Ability to maintain a high level of physicality for prolonged periods and working primarily standing
  • Desirable prior experience with: Steel bundles, Forklift (15500 lbs capacity) and Combilift.
  • Background check (FTZ)

Job Description

We are currently hiring material handlers at our Southeast Houston location! As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for supporting the designated division or department through the handling, organization and record keeping of needed materials. This includes inventory control, maintaining accurate equipment and supply records, and facilitating the stocking and restocking of material needs throughout a designated shop area. The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities for this position.
Essential Responsibilities
+ Responsible for the receipt, stocking and record keeping of new and existing materials.
+ Communicate with staff and management team to identify material needs.
+ Fill workstations with appropriate hardware and material, as identified.
+ Maintain records of materials using a scanner or designated computer program.
+ May utilize a forklift to transport, load and unload materials.
+ Must learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents.
+ Must learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production.
+ Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
+ Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere.
+ Ability to learn computer systems, databases and a variety of software programs.
+ Fluent in English and capable of communicating with co-workers.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Forklift experience preferred.
+ Previous experience in an Industrial or Warehouse setting
+ Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
+ Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
+ Capable of maintaining an organized work area.
+ Must be self-motivated and proactive.
+ Willing to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends as needed.
Working Conditions
+ Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
+ Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection at times, safety harnesses/ fall protection equipment as required).
+ Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders continuously and / or scissor lifts while performing overhead work.
+ Working at heights usually no higher than 10 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment.
Physical Requirements
+ Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders
+ Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction
+ Continuous standing and walking
+ Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
+ Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs.
+ Frequent use of hand tools and power tools

Forklift Operator / Order Puller

Eastern Metal Supply has immediate openings for experienced and reliable Warehouse Professionals that can safely operate a forklift, pull and bundle orders and load/unload trucks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Picking and pulling multi line orders
  • Wrapping orders, shipping, receiving, packing and receiving orders
  • Staging and loading orders onto trucks
  • Operate a standup 4 Directional Raymond forklift
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English effectively
  • Perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Read a tape measure
  • Stand for extensive periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, reach upwards or outwards, twist, turn around and climb up
  • Perform job tasks repetitiously at a very fast pace
  • Maintain regular, predictable attendance
  • Lift heavy objects, 50 75 lbs. with and without assistance
