Reporting to: Production Manager
The Material Handler position supports operations, maintains production flow, and provides accurate production ticketing and paperwork while keeping work areas organized and clean.
Key Tasks & Activities.
• Maintains appropriate levels of materials for production packaging
• Ensures product is properly labelled and recorded
• Monitors production to maintain levels needed to run efficiently
• Pulls stock, fills out shipping manifest accurately and loads trailers
• Disposes of scrap as needed (possibly use bailer or grinder)
The successful candidate will have.

Material Handlers are responsible for the efficient and timely receiving, shipping, storing, transferring and inventory control of all goods and products in the Spring Glen Plant and Warehouse.
1. Operate forklift transferring loaded pallets to, from, and within storage areas, slot areas, production lines, and trucks in a safe manner.
2. Check merchandise/products prior to shipping or receiving to ensure accuracy of items, quantity, and condition.
3. Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure that same is conducted in a manner that prevents damage of goods.
4. Ensure that goods received in damaged form are reported to Quality Assurance Manager and Logistics Manager.
5. Check and maintain daily pre and post trip of all vehicles and equipment operated.
6. Rotate stock to ensure ingredient usage prior to expiration date on a first in/first out basis.
7. Pick customer orders using RF scanners.
8. Station material required for next day's production, as directed by the Logistics Manager.
9. Assist in maintaining inventory control and report substandard level of products to the Warehouse Leadperson.
10. Ensure accurate figures are provided for the monthly inventory and year-end audits.
11. Represent the Company in a positive manner when interacting with external personnel.
12. Position requires the physical ability to perform heavy lifting.
13. Report any mechanical or safety problems to the Supply Chain Manager.
14. Ensure work area is kept clean in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
15. Adhere to common safety practices and rules including the wearing of protective equipment as required.
16. Adhere to Spring Glen's plant hygiene regulations to ensure high product integrity.
17. Responsible for following food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to: GMP's, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.
While the duties above generally describe the job content, not all duties are performed continually or regularly (i.e., daily, weekly, etc.). Duties performed are dependent upon the operation being supported.

- The Material Handler will join the machine shop operating a forklift and yard trucks to ensure efficiency and safety. Your job involves loading/unloading material as needed and working with the team to keep your area supplied with materials and neat. You must be a responsible individual with experience in working in the outdoors and being comfortable moving items that are odd shaped and varying weights.
Requirements:
- Experience with yard trucks, forklifts, and tow motors is ideal
- Experience moving odd shaped items is ideal
- Comfortable doing General Labor tasks
- Ability to train and learn new skills as needed
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
- Safety awareness
- Able to climb ladders and secure large pieces
- Ability to work outdoors; complete labor tasks outdoors
Job Duties:
- Unload steel materials from incoming vehicles/load steel onto outgoing vehicles
- Keeping the facility and yard safe
- Operate overhead cranes
- Knowledge of correct lifting and handling of product/material, proper blocking to set pieces to handle weight of the piece, proper positions of chains, slings, and straps
- Identify damages and report issues with equipment or products.
- Transport materials to work areas and to other buildings. Verify the pieces are secure for transport.
- Inspect machinery to determine if it can be operated safely and guarantee safety by performing routine maintenance
- Communicate with your team so they know what material is in the yard or shop
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
