Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- The physician serves as medical director for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and participates in administrative and quality initiatives for the facilities he or she is responsible for;
- Medical directorship functions include attending and participating in monthly quality assurance and process improvement meetings; participating in quality improvement initiatives; providing guidance to facility staff; reviewing and revising (if necessary) facility's clinical guidelines; insuring compliance with state and federal regulations, training facility staff; and supervising facility clinical staff.
- In addition to the medical director role, the physician also serves as the attending physician for the residents residing at each facility;
- The physician collaborates with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to manage day to day resident care at each facility. Typically, each facility will have a full-time PA or NP assigned to the facility depending on the acuity and volume of the patient population;
- Physician will provide high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care services by rounding on patients residing in SNFs;
- Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with acute illness, such as bacterial and viral infections, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes
- Provider documentation is completed in Theoria's proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system, ChartEasy™
- PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and American HealthTech are the most commonly used facility EHR systems

How Will You Make An Impact+ Supports clinicians to ensure timely and consistent responses to members and providers.
+ Provides guidance for clinical operational aspects of a program.
+ Conducts peer-to-peer clinical reviews with attending physicians or other providers to discuss review determinations, and patients' office visits with providers and external physicians.
+ May conduct peer-to-peer clinical appeal case reviews with attending physicians or other ordering providers to discuss review determinations.
+ Serves as a resource and consultant for other areas of the company.
+ May be required to represent the company to external entities and/or serve on internal and/or external committees.
+ May chair company committees.
+ Interprets medical policies and clinical guidelines.
+ May develop and propose new medical policies based on changes in healthcare.
+ Leads, develops, directs, and implements clinical and non-clinical activities that impact health care quality cost and outcomes.
+ Identifies and develops opportunities for innovation to increase effectiveness and quality.
Minimum Requirements+ Requires MD or DO and Board certification approved by one of the following certifying boards is required, where applicable to duties being performed, American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
+ Must possess an active unrestricted medical license to practice medicine or a health profession. Unless expressly allowed by state or federal law, or regulation, must be located in a state or territory of the United States when conducting utilization review or an appeals consideration and cannot be located on a US military base, vessel or any embassy located in or outside of the US.
+ A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. For Health Solutions and Carelon organizations (including behavioral health) only, a minimum of 5 years of experience providing health care is required. Additional experience may be required by State contracts or regulations if the Medical Director is filing a role required by a State agency.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences+ 3-5 years minimum Utilization Management experience strongly preferred.
+ Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities
- This clinic-based position provides direct patient care, leading by example, and creating an exceptional patient experience
- Provides leadership in healthcare management to ensure day-to-day execution of medical model collaborating with therapists and specialists to drive optimal clinical outcomes and case closure
- Manages clinicians, support staff, and complies with APC supervisory requirements
- Creates a professional and collaborative working environment
- Works with leaders to identify and implement changes to ensure continuous medical clinic improvement
- Maintains relationships with center clients and payers
- Works with medical clinic leadership team to manage clinical and support staffing levels

Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted medical license
- Unrestricted DEA license and dispensing license for state of jurisdiction (required prior to start date)
- Must be eligible to participate in Medicare
- Board Certification or Eligibility in an ABMS or AOA recognized specialty preferred
- FMCSA NRCME certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Many of our clinics offer working hours M-F, 8 to 5, no nights, no weekends, no holidays, no call

This position is eligible to earn a base compensation rate in the state range of $234K - $91K + 12K Director Stipend depending on job-related factors as permitted by applicable law, such as level of experience, geographic location where the work is performed, and/or seniority.
