Thurston County Public Defense is currently recruiting for one (1) Defense Attorney. Depending upon qualifications, the successful applicant will be placed either at a Defense Attorney I, Defense Attorney II, or Defense Attorney III level. Immediate placement for this position will be in our District Court Unit for misdemeanor representation. The Defense Attorney classifications are distinguished by years of experience and the responsibility to handle both adult and juvenile felony and misdemeanor caseloads.

**This is a regular full-time position with an end date of December 31, 2024.**


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Manages a full felony, misdemeanor, and gross misdemeanor caseload (depending on unit assignment).
  2. Reviews police reports, interviews witnesses, works with the court and Prosecutor to resolve cases. Appropriately utilizes non-attorney professional services.
  3. Reviews reports from DSHS, interviews appropriate parties, works with the attorney general’s office, case workers, social workers, experts, court personnel to resolve cases.
  4. Performs a variety of legal office work, prepares appropriate legal pleadings, does necessary research, maintains required statistical information.
  5. Prepares cases for trial, pre-trial and post-trial hearings and/or pleads bargains the cases with the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.
  6. Assists other attorneys in matters of trial strategy, tactics and legal research and analysis.
  7. Handles miscellaneous calendar duties such as arraignment calendars, initial appearance calendars and interpreter calendars.

Position Overview:

eSimplicity is on the hunt for a dynamic Defense and National Security Growth Vice President dedicated to spearheading growth for our Defense and National Security mission. This pivotal role is designed for a visionary leader who is adept at navigating the intricacies of business development, capture management, and proposal strategy within Defense and Homeland Security departments. With a mission to secure new opportunities and deepen existing relationships, the ideal candidate will exhibit a potent mix of strategic insight, deep agency understanding of missions and programs, and leadership excellence. Your mandate will be to drive eSimplicity’s expansion by harnessing advanced technology and innovative software development practices, aiming to significantly enhance American defense and national security interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification and cultivation of new business opportunities within Defense and National Security Departments and Agencies, employing best practices in account planning, customer mapping, and relationship management strategies to secure and expand our client base.
  • Bring deep expertise in the missions and enterprise programs and systems supporting within the Defense or National Security arena. Leverage network of consultants and partners to support teaming and solutioning.
  • Conduct targeted pre-capture research and competitive analysis to position eSimplicity advantageously.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, opportunities, and initiatives within the defense and national security sector, leveraging this intelligence to inform strategic decisions.
  • Spearhead the initial development and management of strategic partnerships, and support negotiations and workshare agreements, aligning with eSimplicity’s strategic objectives.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships, ensuring eSimplicity is positioned as a partner of choice.
  • Work closely with Account Leads, Practice Leads, and P&L leadership, focusing on growth activities by driving solutioning and strategic initiatives to expand eSimplicity’s footprint within DHS and across DoD.
  • Serve as a bridge between proposals, operations, and project teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across different functional areas to align efforts and strategies for winning new work.
  • Work closely with the proposal team and Director of Capture to ensure all proposals meet all compliance requirements and effectively articulate eSimplicity’s value propositions.
  • Participate in transition planning, advising on the handover of awarded contracts to ensure strategic guidance.
  • Partner with Capture leadership to enhance competitive positioning, team structure, and solution development.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years in strategic business and capture development within the federal sector, focusing on the DoD or DHS
  • Comprehensive understanding of DoD or DHS operations, key personnel, programs, and the contractor ecosystem through hands-on programs leadership experience.
  • Possessing established relationships with customers and a robust network of partners within the DoD or DHS ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated success in winning competitive bids and managing acquisitions with a focus on opportunities averaging $100M+ TCV, with a factored value of $0M+, encompassing GWACs, agency-specific vehicles, standalone contracts, and task orders.
  • Experience bidding, winning and growing SBIR projects and OTAs.
  • In-depth knowledge of eSimplicity’s technical capabilities, capable of effectively positioning these to meet DoD or DHS requirements.
  • Current or ability to obtain a security clearance (SECRET minimum), ensuring compliance with federal government requirements for handling sensitive information and working on classified projects.

eSimplicity supports a remote work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by manager.

Occasional travel for training and project meetings. It is estimated to be less than 25% per year.
