- Patient ratios: 2:1 on days, 1:1 on weekends.
**Patient Population:**

- Daily census of approximately 104 patients, with support from various interdisciplinary teams.
**Requirements for Submission:**
- Active MD or Compact License at the time of submission.
- Local candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility.
- Two satisfactory professional references (one supervisor and one charge RN).
- Travelers must be comfortable floating without restrictions and must undergo labs within 72 hours of signing the contract.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a variety of cardiac patients, including those recovering from CABG, valve surgeries, and other cardiac and vascular procedures. As a vital part of our team, you will ensure the post-operative care of patients while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary support staff.
**Responsibilities:**
- Deliver direct nursing care to cardiac surgery patients, including those who are immediately post-operative.
- Monitor patient conditions and manage critical care equipment such as ventilators, arterial lines, and IV drips.
- Manage and assist in procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and the insertion of central lines.
- Interpret vital signs, EKGs, and lab results to make informed patient care decisions.
- Collaborate with medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to implement patient care plans effectively.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and safety protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and recovery processes.
**Requirements:**
- Active RN license in the state of (State) or Compact License.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a cardiovascular or surgical nursing setting; consideration for first-time travelers with 2+ years of open heart experience.
- Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA only).
- Experience in a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) or similar high-acuity setting is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to manage multiple critical care patients.

- **Average Daily Census:** 6 patients
- **Bed Capacity:** 8 beds, patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:2
- **Patient Population:** Adults and geriatrics with various cardiac-related diagnoses.
- Team support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Social Services.
**Scheduling & Compliance:**
- Night shifts with every other weekend.
- Compliance documentation is required 5 days prior to the start date, including CPI Certification (Calm Every Storm online course), with CPIs and BLS/ACLS retraining as stipulated.
