Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health RN coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Monitors departmental compliance with accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission requirements.

Our most common surgical services consist of endo, ortho, and pain procedures. Due to the high volume of outpatient procedures, our surgery staff do not work weekends or holidays.

Position Summary
The Surgery Unit at Spring View Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication. This is a 10-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support (4 in OR and 6 in Recovery).
The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Performs admission assessment and reassessments as set forth within hospital Standards of Care time frames.
- Documents accurately in the patient's medical record.
- Monitors response to medication.
- Monitors lab work results.
- Evaluates and addresses the education needs of patient and family and coordinates discharge assistance including home health needs indicated.
- Conveys to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to problem.
- Performs reassessments of patient based on guidelines set forth in the SOC.
- Notifies physician, anesthesia provider, charge nurse, and other individuals when appropriate, of any adverse changes in patient's condition.
- Ability to work in all areas of surgical services i.e., outpatient, circulate, scrub, PACY, and Phase II.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Associate's degree required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-2 years of clinical experience is strongly preferred
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS is required within 6 months of hire
- PALS is required within 6 months of hire
- Certification in area of specialty preferred
License:
- Current RN license in the State of Kentucky.
