Job Description
This highly ranked, non-profit, 65 bed general medical and surgical facility in southwest Georgia is seeking a board certified/board eligible Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with Emergency Medicine experience to join the hospital staff. Our constant goal is to improve the quality of patient care and access to healthcare for our rural community. We were recently named a top 3 medium sized hospital.
Job features
- Full-time Emergency Department coverage, consisting of 12-15, twelve hour shifts per month.
- Will also include coverage for Medicine Consults and Discharge Clearance of patients in the Behavioral Health Unit which adjoins the hospital.
- We are in the process of developing a Hospitalist program which currently only covers weekends and is staffed with APPs with physician oversight.
- As this is a multifaceted position, a Family Practice trained physician or an Internal Medicine trained physician with ED experience would be ideal.
- The Emergency Department is a relatively low volume department as is the Inpatient service. There is no ICU, so any high acuity or critical care patients are transferred and are not appropriate for the inpatient service.
Donalsonville is the county seat of Seminole County which recorded a county population over 9,100 in 2020. It is the only county in Georgia which borders both Alabama and Florida. It is located 60 miles northwest of Tallahassee, FL and 90 miles north of Panama City Beach, FL
Residents and visitors often enjoy their leisure time at Lake Seminole, a 37,500-acre lake which offers a host of recreational and sporting opportunities to the millions of people who visit each year. Although the lake was built to provide navigation and hydroelectric power, the emphasis is on family fun. Camping and fishing are the most popular activities at the lake, but many folks come just to spend the day swimming, picnicking, sunning, or playing ball along the shore. Other activities enjoyed are bird watching, hiking, water skiing, and canoeing.
