**District Overview**
Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, we build office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and special-use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Our capabilities include all facets of construction and engineering including general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.
**Location**
In this role, you will work out of our Springfield Virginia office, with occasional travel to project sites around the Eastern region. Most of our work is located in the DC/VA and Maryland areas.
**Responsibilities**
- Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs, including design/build and EPC.
- Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
- Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates
- Reviews all bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions.
- Conduct site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
- Utilize engineer techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
- Perform design work as required by the project that is beyond the estimator scope of experience; handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation.
- Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.
- Become proficient in Kiewit's estimating program, "InEight Estimate".
- Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection process; May lead small estimating teams and lead estimates for projects.
- Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions.
- Consult with owners on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.

**Qualifications**
+ Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology, OR minimum of 12 years of extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above.
+ If degreed, 10+ years' related estimating experience with extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with complex Vertical Building projects and design/build work
+ Experience leading estimates and estimating teams, providing coaching/mentoring is required at this level
+ Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
+ Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint) and proficient with various estimating tools
+ Ability to perform estimating duties as outlined above, ability to consult with stakeholders in bid preparation, and interface with clients.
+ Ability to go to site locations as required for walkdowns, and other estimating related functions
+ Must be willing to work in our Springfield Virginia office full time, or majority of the time
