Position Summary
The Cardiopulmonary unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing care to patients. This is unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. The RN - Cardiopulmonary provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Position Summary

The RN - Surgery provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Performs circulation and/or scrub nurse duties in operating room; assists surgeons in a variety of surgical procedures.
Performs duties as assigned and requested.
Completes a focused patient assessment with reassessments based on patients' condition, procedures, medications given and treatments.
Adequately assesses and reassesses pain.
Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and specific needs.
Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and the patient's clinical condition.
Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors.
Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Minimum Qualifications

Position Summary
The Med/Surg unit at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing care to patients. This is a 64-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support. The RN - Medical Surgical Unit provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
- Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs
- Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients
- Develops individual nursing care plans
- Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed
- Evaluates patient care outcomes
- Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees
- Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
- Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care.
- Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition.
- Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.
Required Skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capable of working in a stressful environment and taking appropriate action.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Associate's degree required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Licenses:
- Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
**New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months with the expectation that an RN license will be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
