Job Essentials

  • Organizes and prioritizes daily work by assessing new, current, and discharging patient needs in area(s) of responsibility. Completes documentation as required.
  • Performs utilization review activities to provide patient appropriate, timely, and cost effective care. Coordinates care with patient, care providers, hospital financial services, and third-party payers.
  • Maintains an active role in denial prevention. Proactively intervenes with payers to prevent inpatient denials. Performs retroactive reviews on discharged patients as assigned. Communicates any necessary information to payers to help appeal existing denials. Uses level of care criteria to justify the patient's severity of illness and intensity of service. Reviews payer requirements and government regulations to ensure safe and cost-effective healthcare.
  • Screens and coordinates the discharge planning process from patient admission to departure. Assesses patient needs, develops a discharge plan, and coordinates with internal and external services for care during and after the hospital stay
  • Identifies patients with potential avoidable delays, extended stay, readmission, or discharge needs. Coordinates with care providers and leaders to reach optimal solutions.
  • Educates, communicates, and coordinates with multiple patient care teams to ensure the patient receives quality care, a timely discharge, and to identify and resolve delays and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current RN license for state in which the nurse practices.
  • Three years of clinical nursing experience.
  • RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Case management Certification.
  • Experience in Case management, Utilization review, and/or discharge planning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess patient needs.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, etc.

Job Description:

This job code applies to the Athletic Trainer, in the community, youth or high school setting, with primary assignment to support the medical needs of the assigned partner; provide medical coverage, on field and in the training room for injured athletes during practices and events. Such duties may also extend to assist other local high schools, community sporting events, and regional sporting camps/activities. This position will have variable working hours, unpredictability of schedules, adjusting to match the needs of the partner and late nights.

Essential Functions

  • Carries out rehabilitation program after athlete or patient has been evaluated and treatment plan has been established collaborating closely with other medical team providers including PT, and Physician.

  • Assesses and administers first-aide to injured athletes during practices and sporting events, making appropriate physician referral when needed.

  • Oversees the operation of the Athletic Training room ensuring that appropriate levels of supplies are maintained, maximal coverage is provided, and that the Athletic Training room and clinic maintains a clean, safe, and professional environment.

  • Communicates effectively with coaches, school administration, parents, athletes, patients, physicians, therapists as well as other sports medicine team members.

  • Maintains accurate records of all evaluations, referrals, and treatments administered to patients or athletes.

  • Provides education and training on injury prevention, advocates for overall health literacy, nutrition, and mental health wellbeing.

  • Develops strong relationships with Key Stakeholders at assigned school or clinic; including but not limited to; Physicians, Athletic Director, School Administration and Faculty, Coaching Staff, Boosters, and Parents.

  • Ensures that proper return to play criteria is met before allowing participation of athlete or patient, ensuring that the best interest of the athlete or patient is the priority.

  • Organizes and presents in-services, lectures, coaches conferences, seasonal physicals, sports camps, training, and educational opportunities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Current Athletic Training Licensure for the states in which you work.

  • Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Two years’ experience working in school/community setting as an Athletic Trainer, preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

Job Essentials

  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Performs exams per department protocol.
  • Understands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.
  • Familiar with the ALARA program and follows proper radiation safety protocol.
  • Demonstrates ability to critique own films.
  • Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per department expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration.
  • As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers oral barium products or intravenous contrast material to patients.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Provides appropriate patient education and ensures patient comfort.
  • Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Radiography Certification/Registration (ARRT)
  • Relevant State licensure (where required)
  • Demonstrated CT proficiency.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (healthcare)
