Job Summary:
The HR Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies that enhance employee, team, and leader engagement, foster a positive work culture built upon Solitude Values and Leader Expectations, and ensure compliance with labor laws and union agreements in alignment with HR and resort strategies. This individual contributor position plays a key role in driving employee engagement, positive team member relations, productivity, and high performing teams through fair, consistent, and legally compliant people practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee and Leadership Engagement
- Design and/or deliver programs, training, and initiatives that enhance employee experience, motivation, and retention.
- Project manage and/or conduct employee engagement surveys and focus groups; analyze results and work with VP of People and leadership to address key findings.
- Champion recognition programs, mental health and wellness initiatives, and communication strategies to reinforce a culture of inclusion and high performance.
- Support succession planning process and leadership programs in conjunction with VP of People.
Employee Relations
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, policy interpretation, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and policy violations; prepare reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide guidance on reasonable accommodation process and employee leaves.
- Ensure consistency and legal compliance in employee relations practices.
Labor Relations
- Act as HR point of contact to the Solitude ski patrol local union chapter.
- Interpret labor contracts and ensure proper administration of agreements.
- Handle grievance and arbitration procedures; collaborate with legal counsel as necessary.
- Support contract negotiations and collective bargaining processes.
- In conjunction with legal counsel, monitor legislative changes and labor law developments to ensure ongoing compliance.
Other Responsibilities
- Lead or participate in other special projects with VP of People or Solitude or Alterra HR teams as required.
- Support organization compensation processes and administration in conjunction with VP of People.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or JD preferred).
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification or equivalent preferred.
- 7-10 years of progressive HR experience preferred with a focus on employee and labor relations. Must have deep knowledge in at least one of the two disciplines.
- Experience with unionized environments preferred.
- Passion for skiing and/or riding, and the outdoor industry preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, NLRA, Title VII, FLSA, EEOC).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- High integrity and discretion when handling confidential matters.
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

POSITION:
We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to the menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery. The Cook II is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef & Chef with the supervision of Cooks in the Level 1 position, preparation, and presentation of the daily menus (especially high-quality specials, soups, stew, and chilies) and assisting servers with restocking and service of selections at stations where lines develop during peak business hours.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of kitchen experience is required
- Maintain open, constructive channels of communication with other kitchen personnel
- Demonstrate a good attitude and cooperative nature when dealing with kitchen staff, supervisors, and guests
- Follow directions from your supervisor and ask questions about aspects of assigned duties you may not understand

- Be sure preparations are fully seasoned. Sous Chef or Chef must taste all preparations before they are panned for service.
FOOD PRESENTATIONS:
- Service lines are to be kept spotless and pans changed regularly as needed.
- Food selections should always be well-stocked and appropriately garnished. Make sure all mise-en-place is in sufficient quantities for the day's counts.
- Attend to details.
GUEST SERVICE:
- Must be prompt, friendly, and efficient.
- Assist servers during busy times to speed guests through lines. Guests should be politely greeted and asked how they may be helped.
- Use suggestive selling.
SAFETY, CLEANLINESS OF WORK AND SERVICE AREAS:
- Demonstrate proper operation of equipment, and use of knives and other kitchen tools.
- Work cooperatively with stewards and ask politely for their assistance when needed and know them by name.

POSITION SUMMARY
Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Assure each day’s activities and problems that occur are communicated to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards. Display proficiency in any one of the following categories, above average skills in two more of the following categories and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management. Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe (including soldering). Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items. Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties. Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work. Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs. Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Display the ability to train and mentor other engineers (e.g., Engineer I). Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Adhere to quality expectations and standards. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance.
