Duties Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Cath Lab Tech is to provide assistance with patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab (CCL) through the provision of technical assistance to the cardiac catheterization team.

  • Provides direct, safe, competent and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department.
  • Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Sustains a high level of patient care by communication with the patients, families, and physicians and co-works to address the physical, general and psychosocial needs of the patient.
  • Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/radiologist performing the procedure.
  • Assists cardiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory and medications as ordered.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines.
  • Delivers quality, cost-effective patient care in a professional manner.
  • Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient-focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
  • Prepare and update patient records accurately and legibly.

**Job Title: Vascular Interventional Radiology Technologist**

**Shift:** Day 4x10-Hour (06:30 - 17:00)

**Job Description:**
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vascular Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong vascular procedure experience and will be responsible for assisting in various interventional radiology procedures. This position is open to both experienced candidates and first-time travelers, provided they meet the minimum qualifications.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in and monitor all procedures scheduled, including TAVRs, AAA repairs, STEMI, defibrillator, and pacemaker insertions/removals.
- Conduct peripheral angiography, including lower extremity angiograms and carotid stent placements.
- Perform insertion and programming of Automatic Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (AICDs).
- Maintain a sterile field and perform scrubbing and room circulation during procedures.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including IV teams, respiratory services, and radiology.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and isolation precautions.

**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT R, and CCI RCIS.
- Proficient in McKesson charting system is preferred.
- Strong understanding of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including catheterizations, PCI, and dysrhythmia interpretation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain patient safety at all times.

**Scheduling and Call Requirements:**
- This position involves 4 ten-hour shifts per week (Monday - Friday, 06:30 - 17:00).
- 5 to 6 nights of call monthly (starting at 17:00 and ending at 06:30 the following morning).
- One weekend of call monthly (from 17:00 Friday to 06:30 Monday).

**Patient Care Details:**
- Care is primarily focused on adult patients, with a daily census of approximately 20.
- The technologist will be responsible for a variety of special procedures and patient diagnoses, ensuring exceptional care and service delivery.

**Additional Information:**
Candidates must hold a valid Maryland or Compact license at the time of submission. References will be required for all applicants.
