Responsibilities

:

As a Physical Therapist, You’ll Achieve Success By:

  • Reviewing patients' medical history  
  • Diagnosing patients by observing their movements and listening to their concerns 
  • Developing individualized treatment plans for patients with clear goals and expected outcomes
  • Using exercises, stretching, equipment, and hands-on manual therapy to manage patients’ pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury  
  • Recording patient progress and modifying the plan of care as needed

    Job Duties

    The ideal candidate will enjoy a full-time outpatient clinic position with no weekends and no call. The team sees a mix of general neurology and subspecialty neurology patients.

    The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.

    The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Must be certified to work with all patient population age groups.

    Geisinger’s Neuroscience Institute spans Geisinger’s three main campuses in Danville, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, along with locations in State College and Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Our program includes most neurology and neurosurgery subspecialties along with neurology and neurosurgery residency programs. Geisinger has a specific focus on quality not quantity and developing new management pathways for optimal outcomes.

    Job Duties

    What You’ll Do:

    • Provide proactive, patient-centered care by managing clinical messages, medication requests, and follow-ups

    • Adjust care plans and deliver patient education in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and care teams

    • Conduct virtual triage, diagnostic assessments, and telemedicine visits

    • Respond to in-basket messages with accuracy, empathy, and timeliness

    • Support continuity of care through effective communication and documentation in Epic

    Clinical Responsibilities:
    • Assess, diagnose, and implement treatment plans for patients of all ages

    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe and manage medications

    • Perform procedures within your scope of practice

    • Communicate with collaborating physicians and care teams to ensure safe, coordinated care

    • Follow best practices for digital inbox management and cross-disciplinary collaboration

    Requirements:
    • Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who resides in Pennsylvania with an active Pennsylvania license

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in family medicine, including chronic and acute care management

    • Access to a private workspace and reliable broadband

    • Proficiency in Epic and digital in-basket workflows

    • Experience with telemedicine and asynchronous patient communication

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

    Schedule:

    • This is not a fully remote position— 60% onsite presence is required.

    • Full-time, Monday–Friday

    • One half-day Saturday every 6–8 weeks of inbox management

    • One weekly early (beginning at 7 AM) or late (until 7 PM) shift of inbox management

    Position Details

    The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessororganization) approved physician assistant program, currentNCCPA certification or eligibility, and Pennsylvania State licensure.

    The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
