Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina (or compact license)

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited program (BSN preferred)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (required)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

  • Three years of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU, CCU, or Emergency Department preferred

Position Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific for the patient's age.

Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and the patient's clinical condition.

Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors.

Formulates, implements, and revises the patient's plan of care based on the patient's diagnosis and clinical symptoms.

Formulates, implements, and revises the patient's educational plan.

Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.

Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.

Coordinates and supervises patient care.

Meets current documentation standards and policies.

Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and address psychosocial,

cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patients and their families.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

Certifications/Licenses

Recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

Associates degree in nursing is required.

Certifications/Licenses

A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required within 30 days of employment.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required within 6 months of employment.

Handle with Care (HWC) is required within 6 months of hire.

Required Skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Work Experience

1 year of experience in a health care setting is preferred.
