ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Watertown, MA office is looking for a 3D Modeling Specialist II that works on geomatics assignments utilizing point cloud and photogrammetric data to achieve various existing condition deliverables, including 3D digital models, 2D drawings and registered point cloud datasets. Projects could include but not limited to elements of a transportation and energy infrastructure, architectural and engineering components of buildings and historical documentation. These projects will be moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Responsible to produce existing conditions digital documentation of projects collected using Reality Capture (Remote Sensing) solutions with direction from a Geomatics Project Manager.
- Processes and QA/QC information received from field and outside sources.
- Ensures that project tasks have been completed, processed, reviewed, and delivered per project requirements and parameters.
- Assists project managers with planning tasks, maintaining schedule, and reporting project progress.
- Implement 3D workflows and solutions.
- Implements and adheres to VHB's data integrity policies, administrative procedures, quality control, and safety/hazard guidelines.
- Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Solid knowledge of geomatic mathematics, basic field procedures and data collection principles.
- Knowledge and experience to understand technical, reality capture, and mapping calculations.
- Have or would like to seek an FAA, Part 107, Commercial UAS operator license.
- Thorough working knowledge of industry standard geomatics software with the ability to adapt to new equipment and emerging technologies.
- Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural and structural drawings.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
- Detail- and task-oriented.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of Reality Capture 3D documentation experience, whether through a combination of coursework or professional experience with increasing responsibilities required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associates degree in Land Surveying or other related Land Development Science preferred.
- Proficient with industry standard software associated with survey engineering and reality capture.
- Proficiency with Autodesk C3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads preferred.
- Proficiency within a 3D processing software environment such as Leica Cyclone or Trimble Business Center preferred.
- Experience in coordinating reality capture efforts, this could include directing field collection, processing, registration, and modeling preferred.
- Experience in collecting, post-processing, and resolving data discrepancies as it relates to reality capture methodologies, preferred.

Overview
Santa Rosa Junior College is accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer remote-only assignments.
Compensation/BenefitsAssignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

- Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) as documented in application materials. Initial Step placement will be at Step 1 pending evaluation of experience as outlined in the AFA Contract, Article 27.
- Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.
Responsibilities- Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
- Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
- Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
- Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

Selection ProcessIf the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for up to one year. If selected, candidates will be invited to an interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. Selected candidates who are not given an immediate assignment will remain in the pool for four years.
Department DescriptionThe Engineering & Applied Technology department includes the Engineering Transfer Program and multiple Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs such as Digital Media: 3D Modeling & Animation, Civil Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Geospatial Technology, Interior Design, Solar Photovoltaics, Surveying Technology, Water Utility Operations, Wastewater Treatment Operations, Architecture, Construction Management, and Computer-Aided Drafting. The Digital Media: 3D Modeling and Animation Program is offered as a 21-unit Certificate and as an AS Major. The program uses industry-standard software including Autodesk 3ds Max, Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Mudbox and Epic Games Unreal Engine, and is housed in a state-of-the-art computer and virtual reality lab. QualificationsApplicants must possess minimum qualifications as listed for disciplines of interest or file for equivalency to be considered. Applicants requesting equivalency should document all coursework, degrees, and related professional experience at the time of application. See the Equivalency Guide for Faculty Applicants and the Faculty Minimum Qualifications Self-Evaluation Checklist for details.
Required: Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Also required: sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Professional experience in 3D animation, modeling, games, visual effects and/or virtual reality
- Expertise in 3ds Max, Mudbox, After Effects and/or Unreal Engine; membership in related professional associations
- Experience teaching or mentoring in a professional or educational setting
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism
