Position Summary
This position will direct staff and manage all accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. In this position you will be responsible for all accounting functions to include but not limited to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the monthly closing and preparation of reports in support of all financial statements. You will report to and work closely with the Executive Finance Director ("EFD"), the corporate accounting function and other stakeholders in the organization. This position requires strategic financial leadership, operational partnership, and compliance oversight in a dynamic, profitable, and growth-oriented environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ You will be responsible for all aspects of accounting (payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger, fixed assets, audit, etc.).
+ Direct and supervise a team of people and proactively manage and coach the team providing employee development opportunities.
+ Manage and deliver timely monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, perform account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
+ Oversee variance analysis and review expenses by financial statement line item for reasonability, investigate unusual amounts, make any corrections as necessary, and determine root cause and solutions.
+ Interact at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting incl. lease accounting.
+ Participate in the ongoing development & establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
+ Drive continuous process improvements leveraging digital technology and support the development and enhancement of the ERP platform (JDE) to ensure systems integrity, financial effectiveness and controls.
+ Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
+ Define and maintain department KPI's.
+ Ensure compliance with internal control policies.
+ Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns.
+ Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
+ Performs other duties and corporate finance projects as assigned by Manager.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Relevant accounting experience in Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain.
+ Apply GAAP accounting standards related to revenue recognition, lease accounting and asset capitalization.
+ Experience with accounting software JDE or similar ERP platform is a plus.
+ Ability to quickly comprehend a complex organizational structure, including the general ledger structure and various financial systems, is essential.
+ Proven ability to leverage current technology to drive process efficiency and improve accuracy

The base salary hiring range for this position is ($122,000-$137,250) plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including but not limited to specific and relevant experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise. Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA license is strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience , with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing a significant team.
    • Prior experience in real estate accounting is essential , preferably within property management, self-storage, or a multi-site operational environment.
    • Experience managing accounting for a high volume of entities or properties (e.g., 500+).

Betches is hiring a hands-on and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations, budgeting processes, and accounting infrastructure. Reporting to the SVP, Finance, this role will serve as a key partner in overseeing budget ownership, maintaining strong internal controls, leading close and audit cycles, and driving operational finance excellence.

This is a department-building position — you will be the first internal hire dedicated to managing the day-to-day accounting function, with responsibility for establishing processes, ensuring compliance, and building a high-performing accounting team within the next 12 months.

This individual will play a critical role in strengthening our in-house controllership capabilities, with full ownership of core finance operations including end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management, GAAP-compliant reporting, and the implementation of scalable processes. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, preferably from a Big 4 background or prior controllership experience, and brings a proactive mindset focused on accuracy and continuous improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities

Accounting Leadership & Financial Reporting

  • Own the end-to-end design and implementation of full-stack accounting processes and ERP systems, enabling scalable financial operations and data integrity as the business expands.
  • Lead all core accounting functions, including general ledger, revenue recognition, billing, AP/AR processing (vendor invoicing, payment processing, collections, AR aging reports), and cost accounting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors and effective collection of receivables.

Close, Audit & Compliance Leadership

Budgeting & Cost Control

Qualifications:

What You'll Do:
+ Review NAV calculations and financial packages for completion and accuracy.
+ Produce, review, and verify financial information including financial statements for commingled funds and separate accounts, providing qualitative analysis and comments.
+ Prepare financial statements and assist with audit and tax preparation and review.
+ Handle portfolio budgets, forecasts, and reports for clients and investors.
+ Monitor financial performance and provide strategic advice to the leadership team.
+ Review periodic P&L calculations at the fund and investor levels.
+ Handle the treasury and cash management function.
+ Review system prepared reports and supporting schedules for accuracy.
+ Review and sign-off on fund level bank account reconciliations.
+ Assist with financial institutions, handling financing arrangements and execution of loan agreements.
+ Serve as contact point for investors.
