UPMC is seeking a dedicated ACLS/CPR Instructor to support our life-saving education programs. This role (16 hours/week) works from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., typically weekdays with occasional flexibility needed for special classes.
**About the Role**
As an ACLS/CPR Instructor, you will coordinate and deliver credentialed courses and exams, including:
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
+ Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training
+ First Aid
You will also oversee the administration of our American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site and manage all related Susquehanna Health programs, including scheduling volunteer instructors and maintaining accurate records.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Plan, coordinate, instruct, and follow up on AHA courses and other training programs.
+ Maintain accurate records for all courses, instructors, and participants.
+ Process course fees and documentation for internal and external classes.
+ Manage inventory of course materials and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
+ Promote educational programs to healthcare professionals, the public, and industrial partners.
+ Provide ongoing quality assessment and continuing education for instructors.
+ Collaborate with the Director of Prehospital Services/Emergency Preparedness on program development.

+ Ensure compliance with all organizational and departmental policies.

High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
Graduate of an AMA/CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic Training Program preferred or Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and licensed as an RN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a Bachelor Degree in the Health or Science field. 1 year of experience Preferred.
One year as a BCLS Instructor preferred.
One year as an ACLS Instructor preferred.
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
BCLS Certification at the healthcare provider level.
Certification as a BCLS Instructor or obtain within six months of hire.

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care is the leading emergency and prehospital academic center on the West Coast. One of only four centers of its kind in the nation, the Center is dedicated to advancing the systems and methods of EMS. We teach, test, and certify the people who provide care to the ill or injured prior to hospital admission.
ACLS, PALS & NRP Instructors provide lecture presentations, and skills instruction according to American Heart Association Community Training Center standards. Courses are provided for the UCLA Medical Center, and general medical community at large. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing demonstrations, acting as a student advocate in the learning process, creating an active learning environment, ensuring course requirements, and objectives are met, assisting in the development of educational objectives as well as testing methods, and other duties as assigned.
This is a 10% per-diem position that may convert to career.
Salary Range: $33.96 - 69.54
Qualifications
+ Current certification as an EMT, Paramedic, RT, RN, PA, MD.
+ Baccalaureate degree in health-related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred).
+ Minimum of one (1) year work experience on an ambulance or in a hospital emergency department.
+ Current provider certification in BLS, ACLS or PALS or NRP from the American Heart Association.
+ Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in ACLS or PALS or NRP (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
+ Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter IA/IB, American Heart Association "Core" instructor course (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).

Salary Range: $33.96 - 69.54
Qualifications
+ Current certification as an EMT, Paramedic, RT, RN, PA, MD.
+ Baccalaureate degree in health-related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred).
+ Minimum of one (1) year work experience on an ambulance or in a hospital emergency department.
+ Current provider certification in BLS, ACLS or PALS or NRP from the American Heart Association.
+ Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in ACLS or PALS or NRP (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
+ Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter IA/IB, American Heart Association "Core" instructor course (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
+ Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies.
+ Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts.
+ Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
+ Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment.
+ Skill in working independently and following through with minimal direction.
+ Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues.
+ Valid unrestricted California drivers' license. Available to drive personal vehicle to off campus locations for contract instructional assignments or special projects.

The Basic Life Support (BLS)/Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) provides American Heart Association (AHA) educational activities, including education in resuscitation to promote outcomes consistent with the goals of HUMC and the broader Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
+ Credentialed by the AHA as Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, or ACLS Instructor, or PALS Instructor; Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse License; and/or Certified Paramedic.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
