About The RoleAs a Consultant on our M&A, Activism & Governance team, you'll be at the forefront of high-impact, fast-paced engagementsdeveloping a deep understanding of each client's business, market, and communications strategy across investor relations, public relations, and public affairs. You'll take a hands-on role in integrated communications efforts, ensuring clarity and precision in deliverables, strategy, and execution. Whether it's drafting stakeholder communications, crafting social content, refining investor materials, or engaging with media under strategic guidance, you'll be a key player in helping clients navigate complex, high-stakes scenarios. You'll also collaborate with cross-functional expertsfrom legal and financial advisors to proxy specialiststo deliver thoughtful, well-rounded solutions.
We are currently looking for a Consultant to join our M&A, Activism and Governance team. The Consultant will be expected to be a key team member on client engagements related to friendly and hostile M&A, IPOs, spin-offs, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, activism defense preparation, proxy contests, short attacks, shareholder proposals, executive transitions, among other special situations.
The practice engages with all FTI Strategic Communications offerings, so the individual will be expected to have an interest in cross-stakeholder communications and be able to work collaboratively across practices.
The individual will work with a team to service and advise clients. The individual will also participate in new business development initiatives.
The individual will be a key part of developing the practice and will be expected to support the marketing of the practice internally and externally, development of best practices, further recruitment of new team members and setting a culture for the team.
What You'll Do- Have a thorough understanding of each client's business, market, investment thesis, culture and communications practices across IR, PR, and Public Affairs
- Play a major role on high intensity, fast moving situations with an ability to support across functional areas (PR, IR, digital, public affairs, global regions, etc.) and to assist with keeping account leads, clients and the broader team aware of deliverables, strategy and timelines
- Write and revise a range of key documents such as strategy memos, multi-stakeholder communications, social media copy, press releases and investor presentations
- Work with reporters on behalf of clients, as directed
- Collaborate with equivalent practitioners from legal, financial and proxy advisers, as directed
- Remain flexible to adapt to supporting the account needs
- Perform detailed and accurate research to underpin all client projects and deliverables as well as develop and deliver best practice policies and programs
- Work with colleagues in other practices to ensure the execution of a cohesive, multi-disciplinary communications program
- Support the development of the practice itself by being an enthusiastic partner, staying up to speed on emerging best practices, demonstrating creativity in how the team can evolve and helping the team stay informed on competitor activity
- Assist with identifying opportunities and proactively initiating efforts to market the practice through thought leadership, research, prospecting or networking

What You Will Need To SucceedBasic Qualifications:

About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Advocacy & Civic Engagement, the Community Organizing and Power Building Specialist performs various duties related to supporting, coordinating, and implementing The Center's community organizing, engagement, empowerment, and advocacy efforts. In partnership with the Senior Director of Strategic Communications & Marketing and the Chief Impact Officer, this position will advance LGBTQ+ internal and external organizing priorities while leading digital organizing and grassroots campaigns. In partnership with the Chief Impact Officer, this position will also coordinate the strategy and execution of The Center's LGBTQ+ political power campaigns.
The Community Organizing and Power Building Specialist is an emerging leader able to:
- Lead on-the-ground organizing and implementation of The Center's civic engagement campaigns and activities.
- Coordinate closely with their colleagues to coordinate and implement The Center's community engagement and empowerment strategies that align with and contribute to the agency's strategic plan goals.
- Contribute to The Center's growth to build a deeper impact of our advocacy and civic engagement goals.
- Represent The Center externally at movement building efforts, coalition tables, and community events.
This position will work closely with the Chief Impact Officer and Director of Advocacy & Civic Engagement to achieve short-term and long-term civic engagement, organizing, and LGBTQ+ power building goals in alignment with the mission and vision of The Center.
PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Organizing and Building Community Power:
Internal
- Work with Political Data Inc. (PDI) to manage, track, and analyze voter data to inform campaign performance.
- Collaborate with The Center's Communications and Marketing team to develop branded organizing and outreach materials.
- Produce post-campaign reports tracking work outcomes and political impact for multiple audiences.
- Lead the implementation of the Fierce Advocacy and Civic Engagement (FACE) Volunteer Team to build and sustain a reliable volunteer base that can be mobilized around The Center's power building initiatives.
- Design and deliver training for FACE Volunteer onboarding that is based in community organizing principles and mobilization efforts.
- Maintain and monitor the FACE volunteer email list to keep volunteers updated on latest program developments and civic engagement volunteer opportunities.
- Recruit, train, and manage FACE volunteers to ensure overall goals are met, with active support and input from staff.
- Support the development and implementation of the Young Professionals Council (YPC) Academy program.
- In collaboration with the Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, serve as the co-liaison to the Veterans Wall of Honor Advisory Council and coordinate the annual Veterans Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on existing campaigns.
- Complete compliance reporting related to power building activities.
- When leading mobilization campaigns, report daily and weekly tallies on total volunteers canvassing and field activities.
- Coordinate strategies to increase voter engagement and voter turnout.
- Coordinate strategies to build a strong base of active LGBTQ+ community members. that can be mobilized around The Center's advocacy efforts.
External
- Lead the implementation of The Center's civic engagement strategy for nonpartisan campaigns, including but not limited to elections, census, redistricting, and expanding voter empowerment.
- Organize and mobilize the LGBTQ+ community to participate in various engagement efforts to influence the larger San Diego region.
- Engage volunteers by hosting regular FACE-branded social events.
- Serve as the point of contact for and process incoming outreach requests that align with the Public Affairs Department.
- Make recommendations on participation in civic engagement and advocacy opportunities.
- Represent The Center at external community events that align with the Public Affairs Department.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with external organizations.
- Coordinate the presence of The Center at major mobilizing events in the region that influence grassroots power building and community organizing.
Communications:
- Work with the Communications team to effectively communicate The Center's community organizing efforts to staff, donors, volunteers, and the San Diego LGBTQ+ community.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure The Center's organizing efforts are communicated through The Center's social media platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: Minimum three (3) years of community organizing or civic engagement campaign experience, and minimum two (2) years of experience in an electoral campaign.
- Professional Skills: Demonstrated expertise or track record in at least two of the following areas:
- Running field canvassing programs.
- Leading community organizing trainings.
- Engagement with grassroots organizations.
- Engagement with elected officials and staff.
- Community event planning.
- Electoral campaigns.
- Experience with PDI systems and tools.
- Experience developing and implementing firewall policies and procedures in a C3/C4 setting.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

This position is a part-time position as an Associate Instructor in Social Justice Studies. The teaching assignment may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening or on Saturday and/or in an on-line/distance education format. The assignments are as needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT/AFT Local 6554).

Salary and Benefits
Salary is based on a percentage of workload, up to a maximum of 67% of a full-time load. Salary is prorated based on a minimum salary range of $36,191 - $52,297 per semester; and is based on academic achievement, teaching and related experience.

Lynn Walker Huntley Social Justice Fellowship
The Southern Education Foundation (SEF), located in Atlanta, Georgia with support from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), seeks applicants for the Lynn Walker Huntley Social Justice Fellowship, an early career, two-year position from Fall 2026 through Summer 2028 focused on education justice advocacy across the South. Since 1867, the mission of the Southern Education Foundation has been to advance equitable education practices and policies in the South through research, advocacy, and leadership development to help every student attain a high-quality education that propels them toward the opportunity-rich life they deserve.
The Fellow will assist SEFs Government Affairs and Advocacy team with developing and implementing strategies to advance education justice policies at the local, state, and federal levels. This includes focusing on advocating for equitable school funding and integration, defending, and strengthening public education programs, and/or school curriculum that reflects the diversity and injustices of Americas past and present. The Fellow will also support impact litigation in these areas as part of SPLCs Democracy: Education & Youth practice group, and as part of the legal team of Brown's Promise, a project sponsored by SEF.
Candidates should be able to organize and prioritize a varied workload to effectively complete multiple assignments, for multiple supervisors, and meet a range of deadlines. Interested candidates should be able to interact with diverse external audiences at varying levels in non-profit, education, and government relations spaces while effectively communicating and embodying the values, purpose, and mission of the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in providing a variety of case management services to families and children in the areas of youth justice, child abuse and neglect, parenting, financial and household management. - Bachelor's degree in social work or a closely related human services field.
- Eligibility for Social Work licensure in Wisconsin, with licensure required within 2 years of hire .

Job Summary

Essential Duties

Demonstrates familiarity with patient and other rights, assures their application in treatment provided, and assists in the resolution of complaints, disputes and grievances as may arise.

Ensures clients and relatives understand the nature of probable cause hearings, commitment hearings, and recommitment hearings.
Facilitates and participates in the development and delivery of outcome oriented treatment plans and modalities including participating on interdisciplinary treatment teams and providing individual patient or group psychotherapy and family psycho-education as needed.
Coordinates treatment/program admission and discharge planning, demonstrating collaboration with consumer/patients, their support networks, other department staff, and alternative treatment resources as needed to assure access to necessary living arrangements, clinical and other care.
Complies with applicable county, state and federal guidelines related to the provision of treatment and maintains accurate and timely documentation according to applicable requirements, codes, policies and standards.
Identifies the need for and assists in the planning and development of additional or revised treatment approaches and services as necessary.
Assumes responsibility for and participates in activities which assure evidence based practice and further professional growth and development.
Completes concurrent reviews for client's insurance company, as well as providing retro-reviews and appeals as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience :
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or closely related field. 3,000 hours of supervised experience in clinical practice in a state certified facility and current licensure or current eligibility for licensure strongly preferred. One year of experience in AODA/mental health field, with experience in crisis intervention preferred.
Licenses and Certification :
Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor required. A candidate without licensure may be considered and if hired would be required to satisfy licensure requirements based on a plan developed with management. Additional licensure as Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) strongly preferred.
Candidates who meet all other requirements and are able to obtain SAC/CSAC credentialing within 2 years of employment shall be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of psychopathology, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapeutic techniques.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Employees are required to be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (on or by June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker (on or after July 1,2018, Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical by the State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the hiring department.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees are required to meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the hiring department. Employees who fail to obtain the required continuing education credits shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension and dismissal.
