**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Develop pricing methodologies, assumptions, new rates and cost estimates
+ Determine the impact on premiums and health product proposalsConduct and evaluate studies on pricing, experience data and health care costs
+ Perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling that provides management with statistical findings and conclusions
+ Develop and present sound rate recommendations to internal business leaders quarterly
+ Assist in the development of financial forecasts and projections
+ Provide input on market strategy, including but not limited to competitive analyses, ad hoc actuarial studies, and other market specific projects
+ Become a trusted resource to our business leaders and other non-actuarial partners
+ Prepare and submit rate filings

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ 3+ years of actuarial or related experience
+ Experience working in the finance or health care industry
+ Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Associate of the Society of Actuaries; or steady progress toward designation
+ Basic or higher level of proficiency SQL
+ Experience discussing actuarial concepts to non-actuarial audiences

As part of the Optum Advisory - Trend Analytics Consulting team, you'll become part of a leading force in healthcare analytics. The consultant in this role will engage with detailed healthcare claims data to build and maintain machine learning models that support actuarial forecasting and assumption setting. They will address business challenges through creative application of AI/ML solutions to develop a deeper level of insights that reflect an understanding of the overall consulting engagement. Additionally, the consultant will create visually appealing, client-ready, and accurate deliverables, ultimately contributing to improved health care outcomes and organizational goals.

**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Designing and executing detailed data programs and models leveraging technical skills in R, Python, Excel, SAS, and SQL
+ Conducting in-depth data extractions and analyses to provide actionable insights and drive decision-making
+ Developing high-quality written communications, persuasive presentations, and compelling deliverables tailored to client needs
+ Identifying and exploring new areas for AI/ML development in partnership with key stakeholders
+ Supporting cross-business analytics (Commercial, Medicare, & Medicaid) in developing consistent and appropriate modeling
+ Performing an individual billable role for clients, contributing to the daily delivery of a large-scale and highly complex process
+ Mentoring junior team members and training sessions to build internal capabilities
+ Collaborating across departments to ensure holistic solutions to business problems

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree obtained from an accredited university
+ On the Actuarial exam track, having passed a minimum of 4 or more Actuarial exams
+ 4+ years of experience in a Healthcare, Finance, or related industry analytics role
+ 4+ years of experience acquiring, manipulating, and working with large heterogeneous datasets (claim and non-claim based) and using them to solve business problems
+ 2+ years of experience using python, R or SAS to perform statistical analysis
+ 2+ years of experience in the design and evaluation of models utilizing various machine learning and statistical algorithms
+ Extensive experience in designing and executing complex data programs, including data extraction and analysis using R, Python, SQL, SAS, and/or VBA
+ Ability to create efficient and scalable models
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Credentialled Actuary (ASA or FSA)
+ 4+ years of experience working for a healthcare consulting practice
+ 2+ years of experience collaborating with cross functional partners and presenting analytical findings
+ 2+ years of experience with Git version control system and knowledge of DevOps and agile development practices
+ Willing to relocate to Minnesota
