Zurich is currently looking for a Senior Actuarial Consultant to join SpecialtiesTransactional Pricing Team. This colleague will support the market facing underwriting teams in our Construction business unit as well as interface with the Shared Service Units such as Technical Underwriting and Finance to ensure the technical needs and analyses of the Construction business unit is properly informed of developments within the segment.
Through this collaborative, cross functional business partnership, the Construction field actuarial team improves the financial understanding and performance of accounts within the regions and enhances the quality of technical underwriting, decision making and risk selection. The team is instrumental in profitably growing the premium volume on both a regional and company level. This individual will primarily be responsible for supporting the field underwriting needs of the East Region for our Construction business unit with secondary responsibilities alleviating workloads for the remaining regions.
As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you will work towards becoming the primary point of contact and resource for the East region Construction SBUs and its underwriters and underwriting managers. In this individual contributor role, you will work towards delivering account pricing support with minimal direct supervision as well as lead more complex analytical work under the supervision of more senior actuaries. Examples of this include:
+ Assist with the development of account-based technical pricing structures and leveraging profitability analysis.
+ Partner with regional business leaders and underwriters on both transactional and strategic account decisions; most notably by providing actuarial calculations, including:
+ Risk transfer analysis
+ Large complex loss forecasts and unique rating plan structure
+ Large account collateral needs
+ Renewal Rate Change
+ Support and train underwriters in pricing and loss forecasting concepts, model outputs and tools. And provide a feedback channel to ensure the issues faced by the tools users are being addressed by the tool designers.
+ Assist with IT projects such as Construction WRAP database maintenance.
+ Understand profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as needed.
+ Provides leadership with recommendations on key parts of the large account book of business to help drive strategic profit and growth.
+ You will develop strategic partnerships with the business segment leadership, Portfolio Managers and Underwriters.
+ Communication skills specifically as it relates to discussing technical material for non-actuaries in a clear and concise manner.
+ Help underwriters craft a story and support the new/renewal proposal with sound rationale for rate increases, term changes, coverage adjustments, etc. beyond "the model says so". This includes researching and documenting reasons for changes from one term to another.
+ Manage the demands of the various stakeholders ensuring predictable and timely completion of work. Especially important if individual is also balancing exam study time.
This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure to our various casualty lines of business, business segments and customers/prospects. You will also gain valuable underwriting insights and business knowledge working within an underwriting framework. Basic Qualifications:
+ Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR
+ Bachelors DegreeAND
+ 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR
+ 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
Preferred Qualifications:

Zurich is currently looking for a Senior Actuarial Consultant to join National Accounts Transactional Pricing Team. This colleague will support the market facing underwriting teams in our Construction business unit as well as interface with the Shared Service Units such as Technical Underwriting and Finance to ensure the technical needs and analyses of the Construction business unit is properly informed of developments within the segment.
Through this collaborative, cross functional business partnership, the Construction field actuarial team improves the financial understanding and performance of accounts within the regions and enhances the quality of technical underwriting, decision making and risk selection. The team is instrumental in profitably growing the premium volume on both a regional and company level. This individual will primarily be responsible for supporting the field underwriting needs of the East Region for our Construction business unit with secondary responsibilities alleviating workloads for the remaining regions.
As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you will work towards becoming the primary point of contact and resource for the East region Construction SBUs and its underwriters and underwriting managers. In this individual contributor role, you will work towards delivering account pricing support with minimal direct supervision as well as lead more complex analytical work under the supervision of more senior actuaries. - Assist with the development of account-based technical pricing structures and leveraging profitability analysis.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Government Human Service Consultant (GHSC) team at Mercer.

As a consulting firm specializing in Medicaid, Mercers GHSC team assists state governments in optimizing their Medicaid programs. - Serve as actuary on large and complex capitation rate setting and other actuarial projects.
- In conjunction with the project leader, work with the client to define the scope of the project and serve as an expert on rate structure and methodology and ensure consistency with federal regulations and actuarial standards
- Develop the rate setting assumptions that are built into the data model and informs client and project team on impact of data assumptions and provide on-going review and guidance during the data analysis process
- Collaborate with client team and project team to finalize rates and educate client on the impact of their policies on the data and rates

- BA/BS degree
- Actuarial credentials (ASA or FSA, MAAA) strongly preferred. We may consider otherwise qualified candidates that are close to receiving actuarial credentials
- 3+ years minimum health actuarial experience, with Medicaid actuarial experience strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills
- Medicaid actuarial experience (any state program) or actuarial consulting experience
- Experience related to health plan analysis or capitated rate development

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one anchor day per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $3,500 to 147,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
