Your Job as a Substance Use Counselor:
The Substance Use Counselor is instrumental in our patient's treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. Substance Use Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
- Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
- Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
- Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
- Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
- Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
- Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
- May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
- Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
- Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
- Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.
Role Location: Maryland
Calculated Salary Range for role : $26.00 - $28.00 per hour.

Qualifications
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years exp in counseling field;
- Bachelor's degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years exp in counseling field; or bachelor's degree in other field with 4+ years in the counseling field;
- Master's degree in social or health services field, with 1-year professional work exp;
- Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
- Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings, such as outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities.
- Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
- Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention techniques.
- Documentation experience, including maintaining clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress updates in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards).
- Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!
Position Overview:
Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselor will evaluate patients' progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients' therapy and treatment for best overall outcome.

- Involve families and significant others in patient's recovery process whenever possible

As a member of the BAS team, you will be:
+ Developing bioanalytical strategies to support protein therapeutics, will manage timelines and resources to meet project goals, and will present these strategies to various scientific review committees.

**Who You Are:**
+ Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field or an equivalent credential is required, with at least three years of experience including postdoctoral and/or industrial experience in bioanalytical aspects of biopharmaceutical development.
+ Background knowledge and practical experience in developing quantitative analyte, biomarkers, and anti-therapeutic antibody assays for protein therapeutics, along with a proven track record of publications solving complex bioanalytical problems are essential.
+ Familiarity with standard text, graphic, and presentation software is required, and familiarity with database/data archival software systems is helpful.
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
+ Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience is a real advantage.

5 Compiles, inputs and tracks case management and restorative justice processes in online case management system.
6 Complete and maintain accurate documentation for case management and restorative justice practices in the online case management system consistent with policies.
7 Complete all required reports and documentation consistent with program standards and funding requirements.
8 Assists in the recruitment of community volunteers.
9 Represents VOA and VOA Justice in the community.
10 Cultivates and maintains relationships with community organizations to provide support services for conferences participants.
11 Seeks and engages in personal and professional development opportunities.
12 Participates in staff meetings and supervision meetings.
13 Assists with special projects as assigned.
14 Assists and supports all VOA Restorative Justice project sites including case management and travel.
