Job Description
The Advanced Practice Clinician 2 will work as a key staff member of the Occupational Health organization to promote worker health and wellbeing at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Advanced Practice Clinician will be expected to provide exceptional service at the worker, organizational and institutional level. You will have opportunities to learn and practice medicine in exciting fields such as: radiation emergency medicine; chemical, biological and physical hazard exposure; ergonomics; travel health; reproductive health; population health management and others.
Clinical duties required for this position include: fitness for duty evaluations; management of work related injuries and illnesses; after hour call support; medical surveillance and certification examinations; and triage non-occupational health issues. Other duties include: support of emergency response efforts; service as the subject matter expert for various medical surveillance and certification programs; service as a consultant on institutional projects or policy development as they relate to worker health; and support for the Medical Director.
**What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
+ Demonstrated experience working on interdisciplinary teams working effectively with personnel at all levels.
+ Demonstrated commitment to continual learning and improvement, team-building, prioritizing, managing resources, and meeting organizational objectives and deadlines.
+ Demonstrated recent clinical experience in the practice of direct patient care in general medicine.
+ Demonstrated experience in the review, analysis and interpretation of diagnostic testing including, but not limited to laboratory work, electrocardiogram, pulmonary function testing, audiometry, vision testing, and fitness assessments.
+ Demonstrated passion for worker well-being and population health management.
+ Competency in using an electronic medical record.
**Training/Certifications/License:**
+ Physician Assistants: Board certified PA-C through the NCCPA. Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners to practice medicine (or eligible if out of state).
+ Nurse Practitioners: Certification through a National Nurse Practitioner certifying organization to include American Nurses Credentialing Center. Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing (NP and RN; or eligible if out of state).
+ Current New Mexico Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license (or eligible if out of state).
**Education/Experience:**
Position requires a minimum of 2 to 5 years of recent clinical experience in occupational medicine or in a clinically related field (family medicine, emergency/urgent care medicine, internal medicine, or sports medicine).
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Current certification for National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners through FMCSA.
+ Working knowledge of Occupational Health regulations and standards, including but not limited to applicable OSHA standards.
+ Working knowledge of Workers Compensation statutes and workplace implementation.
+ Demonstrated experience with emergency preparedness support.
+ Working knowledge of hazards related to biologic, chemical, physical and radiologic hazards.
+ Demonstrated contributions to the development of health and wellness programs.

**Work Location:** The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

**Additional Details**

- The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $115,000 - $20,000, depending upon the applicant’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, this position may also be eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation bonus equaling a total target cash compensation that may be between $1 5,000 - 150,000.
Requirements:

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
The APP is responsible for performing the following duties:
- Performs examinations and provides treatment for minor injuries and acute illness to adult patients and children. Type of treatment includes sprains, strains, wound management, infections, allergies, skin/hair/soft tissue disorders, among others.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interprets test results.
- Performs procedures such as suturing, splinting, casting, immunizations, injections, skin lesion removal, etc.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and assists in provision of continuity of care. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care options as appropriate.
- Prescribes medications and treatment regimens as appropriate.
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.
- Responds to stressful situations in a calm and rational manner.
- Counsels patients and their families on health promotion, diagnosis and medical management.
- Behaves in a professional and empathetic manner in order to build trust with patients.
- Participates in the education of patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices.
- Assists ancillary staff with the maintenance of clinical competencies and the promotion of critical thinking skills.
- Interacts in a professional manner and works collaboratively with Clinicas’ staff and patients.

- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Current BLS for Healthcare providers certification
- Previous experience in an urgent care or emergency department preferred.
- Ability to maintain effective organized systems and ensure timely patient flow.
- Proficiency with use of computers and programs is required. Previous experience with Electronic Health Records system is desirable.
- Must have the ability to establish effective relationships with patients and fellow staff. Must be a team player with professional demeanor, possess a good work ethic, be self-motivated and a problem solver and take personal pride in own work.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and good clinical judgement.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including extended shifts, weekends and/or holidays.

Position Brief:
Campbell County Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA or APRN) to join the Department of Geriatrics to support health services in two locations: a rural outpatient practice and in a residential long-term care facility.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of geriatric illnesses and chronic disease with a focus on comprehensive patient care and quality of life. This full-time position involves working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals within the hospital-based system to provide high-quality medical services, ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:
- 1.0 FTE clinician alternating weeks between in a typical 5-day M-F workweek outpatient clinic and working in the residential long-term care facility
- Care for adult patients in the outpatient and residential long-term care setting
- One in three telephonic call for nurse advise at the LTC facility.
- Develop and maintain a high standard of medical practice and clinical competency
- Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies as needed
- Conduct complete or focused patient examinations to include necessary history and physical examinations
- Conduct or order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate diagnostic testing to include initial interpretation of electrocardiography and routine radiologic imaging as training allows
- Diagnose, formulate treatment plans, and treat a wide range of adult conditions and diseases common to the primary care setting
- Conduct minor surgical procedures (i.e. laceration repair, I&D, and removal of foreign bodies from eye, ear, nose) needing no more than infiltrative anesthesia or peripheral nerve blocks
- Provide comprehensive and continuous care for patients, including preventive care and disease prevention strategies
- Refer patients to their primary care provider or medical specialists as necessary
- Adhere to all relevant medical protocols and procedures
- Stay informed or conduct literature research as needed on the latest advancements in Geriatric Medicine to improve patient health outcomes and healthcare delivery
- Promote and shepherd innovative enterprise practices and changes in standards of care within the Geriatric Medicine specialty
- Conduct ad hoc or informal instructional interactions with peers or clinical subordinates when required to ensure the optimal delivery of patient care
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient needs are met
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
- If an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN):
- Hold a Master of Science in Advanced Practice Nursing from an approved program
- Hold/obtain and maintain National APRN Certification
- Hold/obtain and maintain APRN licensure in the State of Wyoming
- If a Physician Assistant/Associate (PA):
- Hold a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from an approved program or 5+ years’ experience as a PA
- Hold/obtain and maintain board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- Hold /obtain and maintain an unrestricted PA licensure in the State of Wyoming
- Hold/obtain and maintain an unrestricted Wyoming Controlled Substance Registration from the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy
- Hold/obtain and maintain unrestricted WY-designated DEA registration
- Hold/obtain and maintain a current Basic Life Support certificate
- Hold/obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at Campbell County Health
