The Adventure Guide role is responsible for engaging guests in each destination through a series of explorations and adventures throughout the National Parks. As an Adventure Guide you are responsible and accountable for all land exploration, transfer operations, and brand ambassadorship & representation. The Adventure Guide is the most visible advocate for guests and is responsible for creating a fun atmosphere while always engaging guests and socializing throughout the land exploration.
This role has a very high level of guest interaction and can be very demanding, with long hours. The role requires an energetic and creative person with extraordinarily polished communications & social skills, a collaborative team spirit and a passion for guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
- National Parks Regions: Yellowstone, Glacier & Grand Teton, Great Smoky Mountains, Alaska National Parks
- Lead guests through their daily National Parks explorations while acting as a company representative and brand ambassador.
- Provide narration and commentary throughout the National Parks, giving accurate and relevant information and facts about the parks, history, nature, and wildlife.
- Effectively communicate with guests about the schedule, weather, and activity levels.
- Create daily programs to give to guests to explain what each day entails.
- Create and execute entertainment, such as trivia and games, on board the motorcoach.
- Assist guests with minor medical attention.
- Accommodate all reasonable guest requests.
- Socialize with guests at every opportunity.
- Communicate with home office frequently, including completing weekly reports, relaying information about early guest departures (if applicable), or changes in schedule/plans.
- Prepare materials for turnaround day.
- Monitor and evaluate performance of vendors, coach companies, and guides and send feedback to home office.
- Ability to engage guests throughout each cruise.
- Superior time management.
- Ability to manage and solve problems.
- Sense of urgency in all guest, crew, and home office requests.

- Bachelor's Degree in hospitality, tourism, or event management is preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Enthusiasm, confidence, and a can-do attitude.

Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of experienceworking with K-12 students.
- Understanding of outdoor educationor leadership development programs.
- Experience in adventure activitiesis highly preferred. Our most common programs include:
- Hiking
- Biking
- Kayaking
- Rock climbing
- Team-building activities
- Ability to personally participatein outdoor activities.
- Strong leadership and behavior management skills, overseeing up to 20 students.
- Encouraging and patient approachwhen working with youth.
- Mustcreate and maintain a physically and mentally safe environmentfor students, fostering personal growth, confidence, self-reliance, and leadership.
- Laser-focused on participant safetyandcertified in first aid, CPR, and basic wilderness safety(or willing to complete training).
- Ability to drive vehicles(with and without student passengers) per Arc's requirements. You will be trained to operate a vehicle towing a climbing wall and must participate in occasional refresher training.
- College transcripts that show you have 48+ college credit units completed OR you take and pass an academic proficiency exam.
- To get a TB test (and provide proof that it is negative), pass a Live Scan background check, and have a current vaccination for Covid 19.
- You will be required to take CPR and first aid training or provide proof that you have been certified within 12 months.
- English - Spanish bilingual speaker highly preferred.
- Valid California driver's licenserequired (Commercial Driver's License a plus!).
- Available to workboth weekdays and weekends.
- Someadministrative paperworkis required for each outing.
- Willingness to assist withevent prep, post-event tasks, cleanup, and inventory.
- Familiarity with Leave No Trace (LNT) principlesis preferred.
- Open tosharing ideas for improving programs and logistics.

As an Adventure Guide, you may lead a variety of outdoor activities, including snowmobiling tours, sporting clays, backcountry off-road vehicle tours, backcountry dinner nights, and e-bike tours. This is an opportunity to turn your passion into a rewarding career.
Job Responsibilities:
Outdoor Activities and Tours:
- Lead exhilarating snowmobiling tours, guiding guests through scenic trails while ensuring their safety and providing instruction.
- Organize and oversee sporting clays activities, catering to both seasoned pros and beginners by setting up shooting stations and offering guidance on shooting techniques.
- Navigate rugged terrain during backcountry off-road vehicle tours, highlighting points of interest and ensuring the safety of all participants.
- Guide guests on e-bike tours, showcasing picturesque landscapes and sharing knowledge about local flora, fauna, and landmarks.
- Coordinate unforgettable backcountry dinner nights by setting up dinner and serving guests.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing guest inquiries, concerns, and ensuring a positive experience from start to finish.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse guests.
- Maintain and upkeep all equipment used during tours, ensuring the safety and functionality of snowmobiles, off-road vehicles, e-bikes, and safety gear.
- Uphold safety protocols and procedures, conducting safety briefings, and implementing emergency response plans when necessary.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including tour scheduling, payment processing, and maintaining accurate records of guest information and tour activities.
- Stay informed about local regulations, environmental conservation efforts, and best practices in outdoor recreation, educating guests accordingly.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Have a valid Driver's license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program
- Knowledge of safety practices, CPR/first aid certification preferred.
- Previous outdoor adventure tour leadership preferred, especially in snowmobiling, off-road vehicles, shooting sports, and biking.
- Strong leadership abilities to guide groups effectively outdoors.
- Familiarity with local geography, trails, and conservation principles.
- May require lifting and moving up to 75 pounds.
