**Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of marketing communications materials and activity.
+ Creates prints and electronic marketing materials and company literature.
+ Copies, edits, proofreads, and revises communications.

Work in the Corporate Marketing and Communications team in Minneapolis, Minnesota to provide support for Xcel Energy public and internal web content, social media, journalistic writing, visual design and digital signage, while meeting internal client expectations.
+ Gain a broad look at the communications needs of a major corporation.
+ Build a foundation of communications experience by writing for publications, coordinating projects, managing web content, creating digital signage, and assisting in the planning and implementation of special events.
+ Broaden your intern experience by participating in various communications initiatives across the Corporate Marketing and Communications departments, such as creating social media campaigns, analyzing data and reporting on communications campaign outcomes, supporting marketing communications projects, supporting public relations efforts, and more.
+ Connect by conducting informational interviews and job shadows to understand how your work intersects and supports other areas of Xcel Energy.
This is a hybrid, year-round position. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer and 15-20 hours per week during the school semester. The expected start is immediately.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Currently pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related degree
+ Current Student, sophomore and higher
+ Enrolled in programs such as strategic communications, advertising, marketing, social media safety and health, management, human resources, labor relations, public relations, government relations, business administration or similar.

This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. This position leads communication, engagement, marketing, and educational efforts for the Office of Transit and Active Transportation's transit, active transportation, and mobility management programs. The role focuses on increasing public access, awareness, safety, and understanding of these programs. It involves evaluating and improving communication tools and strategies-such as websites, newsletters, and digital platforms-while collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure clear, accessible, and responsive information sharing.
In-state travel - 15% of time.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Three years of professional experience in the following:
+ Experience developing and managing communications or marketing materials-such as websites, newsletters, social media, or public outreach campaigns.
+ Experience engaging with diverse communities or audiences to improve access to information or services.
+ Experience with marketing strategies (campaign planning, audience segmentation, media relations, etc.).
A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related degree may substitute for one year of professional work experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience working in or with government agencies or public sector organizations.
+ Experience using analytics tools to evaluate communication effectiveness and inform strategy.
+ Experience working in or with public transit and/or active transportation.
