Your Opportunity
The role of Civil Engineer is to work independently and as a team member on a wide range of land development projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. A Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits, and construction documents. The projects that a Civil Engineer may be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Proficiency in preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
- Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.
- Prepares and revises documentation in various civil phases.
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Prepares construction items quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
- Assists senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- May lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized civil elements.
- Participates in constructability review.
- Conducts quality assurance and quality control on projects.
- Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.
- Works on multiple projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with land development projects in Ventura and/or Los Angeles county markets.
- Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills.
- Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, , etc.)
- This position will require the successful passing of an AutoCADD Evaluation
- Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**
- Locations in CO, HI, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 97,100.00 - Max Salary $140,800.00
- Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary 104,200.00 - Max Salary 151,000.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

+ Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.

* Provide early-stage Preconstruction civil design for estimating purposes through the preparation of buildable area plans, preliminary erosion control, grading plans and road design.
