We're looking for a Structural/Mechanical Engineer with a background in space vehicle designs and electro-mechanical systems integration. The ideal candidate has experience making major optimization trades for satellite bus architectures including integration with payload subsystems. Key job responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design and layout trade studies for satellite primary structure contributing to overall system architecture including inputs and requirements from cross discipline teams - Electrical, RF, Thermal, Dynamics, Mechanisms, Materials, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test.
- Generate detailed designs via CAD systems and engineering drawings with appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Conduct or oversee static, dynamic and modal structural analysis via finite element methods as needed to support design work.
- Deliver an efficient structural design capable of high volume production throughput (DFMA)
- Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews
- Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for space hardware
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience including significant time designing structural systems for aerospace.
- 2+ years of experience with structural materials and processes including metals, composites, bonded and bolted joints.
- 2+ years of experience in structural sizing including classical methods (hand calculations) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of primary and secondary structures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advance degree (Master's or PhD) in structural or mechanical engineering or related discipline
- CAD expertise (Siemens NX or equivalent, NX Teamcenter, GD&T per ASME y14.5)
- Finite element analysis skills - (FEMAP/NASTRAN or equivalent)

**Basic Qualifications:**
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Experience with CATIA required.
Microsoft Office Skills - of particular importance: Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Word, and Project.

This req is for a level 3 AGM-158 Flex/SR Weapons System Design Leader. This candidate will be responsible for integration and design synthesis of all aspects of the XR/AGM-158 Flex weapon system family design.
The successful candidate must be well versed in participating in and supporting multi-disciplinary system trade studies. The candidate must have experience in integrating multiple disciplines including aerodynamics (including hypersonic), materials and processes, computer aided design (preferably CATIA V5), structural analysis, propulsion, thermodynamics, electronics and controls, and actuation systems.
The successful candidate must have experience coordinating with and supporting fabrication, assembly, MRB, quality, and supply chain aspects of Production Operations. The successful candidate must be capable of generating and presenting technical and administrative materials to a wide variety of customers as well as internal LM teammates.
The successful candidate should have experience supporting BA capture activities, program planning, and proposal development include cost estimation, schedule/planning development, and BoE generation. A successful candidate should also have experience supporting a variety of cross discipline technical teams.
The successful candidate must be a team player with excellent communication skills as well as the ability to lead by example. This candidate must be able to mentor early career candidates and serve as a positive model to inculcate and support One-LM.
Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Selected applicant must have a secret security clearance to start.
