Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Aerospace Engineer with demonstrated experience providing air/space craft or propulsion system design, integration and test support for aviation platforms. This position will be based out of Huntsville, AL and will report to the Principal Systems Engineer for Yulista Solutions, LLC.
The Aerospace Engineer will be responsible for providing mechanical drawings, data and operational analyses, material and manpower requirements, assessing safety and airworthiness concerns, generating cost estimates for aviation equipment such as flight controls, propulsion systems, avionics, communications, navigation, and guidance equipment and computing to obtain and record specified data. In addition, it may be expected to advise on capabilities, limitation and safety of state-of-the-art equipment, proven and theoretical concepts, advantages, disadvantages, risks, compromises, and expectations with associated aviation system integrations in support of US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, USMC, SOCOM, and other government agencies in the areas of prototype integration and test, air launched effects, propulsion system integration, performance, airworthiness, and others as appropriate.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :
- Collaborate with the lead project engineers, chief engineer, and engineering design teams to ensure that air/space craft systems meet the safety of flight requirements, and that the resulting product operates as intended
- Support the mechanical integration of equipment and associated aircraft modification tasks
- Assist in creating or modifying technical data packages for aviation weapons and research platforms
- Provide aerospace engineering support of air launched effects integration and tests efforts and prototype integration facility integration efforts as required
- Review mechanical system design for aviation systems ensuring materials, structural substantiation and electromagnetic characteristics of avionics and mission systems meet design requirements, airworthiness and FAA or MIL specification requirements
- Gain familiarization with various aviation systems to support development, operations, or sustainment efforts.
- Understand, utilize, and improve internal processes and tools for the development of new systems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Non-supervisory; Individual contributor working under the direction of technical leadership
- Mentor junior aerospace/mechanical engineers, as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Highly self-motivated individual able to contribute to a positive work environment
- Experience working with civilian or military aviation weapons platforms and electronic warfare systems.
- Working knowledge of MBSE/MOSA approached to weapon system design/integration.
- Experience in presenting to end-user customers and clients in both written and verbal formats.
- Working knowledge of tools such as Solid Works, CATIA, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite including the ability to mentor junior engineers in their use.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited college/university.
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in design/integration of Aircraft electronics or three 3) years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Previous experience with military or civil fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance (SECRET).
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Office with occasional work in aviation hangars or outside on flight line/ramp areas.

In this role, you will utilize your extensive technical expertise and specialized knowledge in the field of thermal and fluids analysis of solid rocket motor (SRM) components and systems. You will employ advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts, to complete CFD and thermal analysis for the SRM systems. Qualifications:

Primary Responsibilities

Perform mechanical and structural assembly of aerospace components per work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings.

Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment to assemble, fit, and install parts and components.

Conduct inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

Prepare and apply surface coatings (e.g., primers, sealants, bonding agents) according to engineering documentation and process specifications (preferred).

Maintain accurate documentation and records using company systems (e.g., travelers, checklists, shop floor control systems).

Identify and communicate nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and assist with corrective actions.

Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental regulations.

Work in cleanroom environments or controlled areas when required.

**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Perform mechanical and structural assembly of aerospace components per work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
+ Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment to assemble, fit, and install parts and components.
+ Conduct inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
+ Prepare and apply surface coatings (e.g., primers, sealants, bonding agents) according to engineering documentation and process specifications (preferred).
+ Maintain accurate documentation and records using company systems (e.g., travelers, checklists, shop floor control systems).
+ Identify and communicate nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and assist with corrective actions.
+ Follow all safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental regulations.
+ Work in cleanroom environments or controlled areas when required.
+ Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.
+ Fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting.
+ May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing PPE.
+ Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production schedules.
**Basic Qualifications**
+ High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience in aerospace or precision assembly manufacturing.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documents, and assembly instructions.
+ Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
+ Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/shop floor systems.
+ Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Associate degree or vocational training in manufacturing, aerospace, or mechanical technology preferred.
+ Experience in aerospace coatings, including surface prep, masking, application of primers/sealants, or anti-corrosion treatments.
+ Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 quality systems, or NADCAP requirements.
+ Certifications in aerospace manufacturing or coatings (e.g., NACE, SSPC, AWS) a plus.
+ Prior work in a cleanroom or high-reliability manufacturing environment.

Overview :
This position is part of the Space Exploration Group (JSEG) support to the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing (W&M) team under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate.
Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this position is manufacturing large aluminum aerospace structures using both friction stir welding and fusion welding processes. Education and experience relevant to this position will be evaluated from that perspective. The position's primary responsibilities are to:
1. Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
2. Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new welding processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
3. Prepare technical reports resulting from research and development.
4. Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-weld heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods and welding of critical joints.
5. Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
6. Serve as project lead engineer to manage specific assigned customer welding development and manufacturing development projects.
7. Help other EM32 W&M Team customers understand and resolve problems related to their welding manufacturing processes.
The selected candidate will perform work under the guidance of more senior engineers/scientists. The selected candidate will perform assignments designed to develop professional working knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering/science tasks. **Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Translate high-level system technical and conformance requirements into lower-level electrical engineering (EE) and software (SW) requirements and specifications
+ Collaborate tightly with the systems engineers in the development of system level requirements that are testable and with appropriate scope at the lower-level for software
+ Manage EE and SW technical requirements from the top down (traceability, verification, and validation) across multiple programs.
+ Generate government-required conformance documents
+ Design and generate lower-level software test matrices, plans, and procedures to cover and show compliance to the lower-level software requirements verification matrix
+ Collaborate with the EE director in developing automated methods for verification or methodologies to reduce the burden of verification testing required including use of auto-code and automated testing

**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
+ Minimum 8 years of Aerospace Embedded Electronic Design (preferably in avionics or satellite design ) which includes at least 4 years of Electrical Systems Engineering with experience in industry standard SE processes pertaining product lifecycle (specs, requirements, architecture, formal reviews, integration, test and deployment).
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in aerospace conformance (ie. MIL-PRF-XXX, DO-178/160/254/XXX)
**Desired Characteristics**
+ Master's degree in electrical engineering
+ Minimum 2 years of aerospace conformance documents (MIL-PRF-XXX, DO-178/160/254/XXX) Functional understanding of major aircraft or satellite systems: environmental control systems, powerplant, electrical, hydraulics, controls, avionics, power generation, and structures. Basic coding/scripting experience (preferably in MATLAB or Python). Knowledge of steady state and dynamic system modeling and architecting high level controls. Experience with desktop modeling of complex system controls (preferably using Simulink)

The base pay range for this position is $142,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual.
