Essential Job Responsibilities
Aerospace Engineer - Researches, designs, develops, and tests structures, propulsion units, and guidance and control subsystems for aircraft, missiles, unmanned systems, or spacecraft. Analyzes aerospace product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced with existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Recommends, analyzes, and supports project requests, proposals, and engineering data to determine feasibility, producibility, cost, and production time of aerospace or aeronautical products. Directs and coordinates activities of engineering or technical staff designing, fabricating, modifying, or testing aircraft or aerospace products. Develops design criteria for aeronautical or aerospace products or systems, including testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and completion dates. Plans and conducts experimental, environmental, operational, and stress tests on models and prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment. Evaluates product data and design from inspections and reports for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards. Formulates mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify design according to customer engineering requirements. Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and inspects malfunctioning or damaged products to determine problem. Plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving customers' reports of technical problems with aircraft or aerospace vehicles. Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of aerospace systems. Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of aerospace systems. Performs risk assessment of aerospace systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
+ 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
+ Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
+ Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications
+ Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation
Preferred Requirements
+ Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo
+ Prior experience working with military or aerospace platforms
+ Master's degree in a technical discipline is a plus
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.

The **Aerospace Engineer** will work in support of the Army for the Network Modernization & Mission Network Technical Service Support program (NetMod). NetMod sets forth the work efforts required to provide product technical support services for systems and equipment being produced, fielded, modified or supported by PdM Network Modernization (NetMod) and PdM Mission Network of the Project Manager (PM) Tactical Network (TN) of the Program Executive Office for Command Control and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T)? This support may also include future systems and equipment that is acquired for the Army to maintain its technological advantage.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to:**
+ Interacting with system users to translate their requirements into systems, hardware, and software requirements and design.
+ Participates in the development of test strategies.
+ Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex telecommunications problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
+ As a part of a team, design, integrate, and support Data/Voice/Video/ Telephony/NetOps and satellite systems in the tactical network.
+ Configure satellite communication (SATCOM) systems with the most current baseline and perform function tests using a program office-approved test procedure to ensure all systems can communicate properly.
+ Validate equipment that integrates with Satellite Communications equipment (Tactical Hub Nodes (THN), Satellite Transportable Terminals (STT) etc.) as part of the SATCOM Overhaul Program.
+ Advise and validate, configure and integrate new capabilities as part of the SATCOM Overhaul program, and validate modifications and upgrades to the Datapath Industries (DPI)/Rockwell and General Dynamics SATCOM, STT and UHST transmission vehicles.

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Requires a Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, aerospace) or other technical science such as computer systems.
+ 15+ years of relevant experience.
+ 5+ years in the Department of Defense contracting market of major weapon systems product development and acquisitions.
+ Experience using mathematical models to analyze satellite systems, power distribution, and system efficiency.
+ Experience identifying and resolving problems within satellite communications systems during design, testing, or installation phases.
+ Understanding of the interrelationships of telecommunications, computer science, and engineering principles.

+ Coordination for oversite of quality requirements and Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIP) and In Line Assessments (ILA) via Government Contract Quality Assurance (GCQA) and Risk Based Quality Assurance (RBQA) is through Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel and HALO NASA QA.
+ Coordination with Prime Contractor Quality Assurance group to Identify, track, coordinate and resolve quality issues with Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) with the flexibility to assist with GFE issues.
+ Support the Customer with Milestone reviews (i.e. Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Review(MRR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Failure Review Board (FRB), Material Review Board (MRB) and Pre-Shipment Review (PSR) and using information from these milestone reviews in the application of GCQA RBQA for NASA inspection and delegated DCMA inspection.
+ Perform multi-area in-line Quality Engineering tasks for criticalspace flightEVA and hardware to establish and/or assign government mandatory inspection points (GMIPs).

+ Develop and/or evaluate new or revised inspection requirements, special processes, and workmanship standards for design and manufacture of high reliability CFE and related equipment and systems for space flight applications.
+ Provide technical and quality support and guidance to less experienced quality personnel.
+ Complete all necessary GFE QE training/certification curriculum, and once certified, serve as mentor to other GFE QE personnel during their on-the-job training.
+ Pursue certification in the secondary discipline of EVA Safety, and complete all necessary training/certification curriculum. Once completed, the GFE QE would be considered "cross-trained" in EVA Safety and may be asked on occasions to perform tasks such as EVA/EMU hazard and FMEA/CIL review, EVA console support, EVA/EMU anomaly support, and EVA/EMU hardware design review support.

Recommends, analyzes, and supports project requests, proposals, and engineering data to determine feasibility, producibility, cost, and production time of aerospace or aeronautical products. Directs and coordinates activities of engineering or technical staff designing, fabricating, modifying, or testing aircraft or aerospace products. Develops design criteria for aeronautical or aerospace products or systems, including testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and completion dates. Plans and conducts experimental, environmental, operational, and stress tests on models and prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment. Evaluates product data and design from inspections and reports for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards. Formulates mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify design according to customer engineering requirements. Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and inspects malfunctioning or damaged products to determine problem. Plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving customers' reports of technical problems with aircraft or aerospace vehicles. Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of aerospace systems. Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates testing of aerospace systems. Performs risk assessment of aerospace systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
+ 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
+ Must Possess an active Top Secret clearance
+ Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications
+ Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation
Preferred Requirements
+ Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like MagicDraw or Cameo
+ Prior experience working with military or aerospace platforms
+ Master's degree in a technical discipline is a plus
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
