The Boeing Company is currently seeking an **Aircraft Maintenance Technician** to perform general aviation maintenance, avionics and/or structural work at **Edwards Air Force Base, CA** , in a flight line maintenance environment on modification 5th generation military fighter aircraft as part of a combined test force with active duty military personnel.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) and the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Clearance post-start (U.S. Citizenship Required).
This position also requires the ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only. If, at any time, the applicant loses their security clearance or program access, this will be grounds for dismissal.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Perform aircraft maintenance on all aircraft systems, preventative maintenance, launch, recovery, and ground movement, alterations to aircraft structure, systems and sub-systems, including electrical and avionics on standard or experimental certificated aircraft under engineering direction
+ Load and test software and perform operational checks for hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and avionics systems
+ Install, test and repair fiber optic and electrical wire
+ Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, service aircraft and engine systems to prepare aircraft for flight
+ Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures
+ Drilling close tolerance holes through multiple stack-ups
+ Locate and add new structural and line replaceable units
+ Add system brackets and install new wiring and terminate connectors
+ Perform initial rigging of landing gear and flight controls as well as doors and other mechanical devices
+ Read and interpret blueprints
+ Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment to include aircraft and hangar cleaning
+ Work in a diverse maintenance team environment
+ Interface with engineering and operations teams working with Government, Military and other contractors
+ Follow direction of the non-Boeing aircraft manager, and government maintenance production staff to meet schedule
+ Operate any and all types of information systems required to perform assigned tasks. Including but not limited to Company WEB based systems, UNIX based systems, and Microsoft Office products
+ Maintains required records and inspection forms, both electronic and paper
+ Interpret and perform the requirements of engineering technical documentation and direction, blueprints and Air Force Technical Operational Data
+ Apply applicable mathematical calculations to setup and use precision measuring tools, to measure gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters and depths. Make production aids to facilitate work assignment
+ Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
+ Physical requirements: work demands moderate to strenuous effort, must be able to frequently lift items ranging from 20 to 48 pounds, must have the ability to stand for frequent periods of time, wear safety toe shoes, and must be able to perform tasks that require frequent climbing, crawling, kneeling, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing and other related activities. Flight line environment is outdoors and may experience temperatures below zero to over 115 degrees F. All weather conditions
+ Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment: safety toe shoes, bump caps, safety glasses, gloves, respirators as required
+ DEFINITION OF TERM: Maintenance* means inspection, overhaul, repair, preservation, and the initial installation and/or replacement of parts. Preventive maintenance** means simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations. Alterations*** means modifications that permanently or temporarily change an airplane from its original design configuration Associated Duties and Responsibilities: Use technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions and FAA forms and publications to accomplish work assignment
**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.**
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):**
+ Military aircraft maintenance experience with honorable discharge and/or FAA Airframe or FAA Powerplant License
+ 3+ years of experience in full-time aircraft flight line maintenance on military or commercial aviation aircraft
+ Must be willing to wear eye, hearing, foot, hand, respirator and other personal protective equipment/safety gear at all times
+ Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime
**Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):**
+ 4+ years of experience in full-time military aircraft flight line maintenance on fighter aircraft with an honorable discharge (Avionics, Crew Chief, Structures at 5 or 7 level)
+ 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance on complex jet powered aircraft with military, airline or certificated repair station background
+ Experience supporting the F-22 program
+ Current F-22 Special Access Program clearance

These positions will oversee the maintenance, servicing, repair and overhauling of multiple aircraft and aircraft systems. **Basic Qualifications:**

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. **Principal Responsibilities**
+ Plans, coordinates, administers, and regulates the operations of the maintenance departments per policy and instruction. Defines and assigns responsibilities, functions, and operations and ensures full and effective employment and compliance of assigned personnel.
+ Implements policies, practices, and generates revisions to existing policies and practices as required to meet company and contract requirements. Recognizes, communicates and pursues changes in contract scope and/ or workload requirements.
+ Communicates directly with the Government authorities and contractor management and contractor personnel to define and execute requirements.
+ May include production reports, consumption of material, quality control, and other aspects of production.
+ Task may include writing production reports, maintaining files, compiling production sheets, preparing written work schedules, compiling material inventory records and preparing requisitions.
+ May compute wages from employee timecards and post wage data on records for payroll.
**Minimum Education and Experience Required:**

+ Possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of 10 years of experience with 8 years of the last 10 years in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification.
+ High School graduate or equivalent.
+ Relevant experience on the assigned platform is required.
+ High school graduate or equivalent.
+ Must have a valid driver's license.
+ Must qualify for and be able to maintain a secret level clearance.
+ Must be available to work any shift.
+ Must be U.S. Citizen
**Preferred Quals.**
+ Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline is highly preferred, High School graduate or equivalent required.
+ Knowledgeable of technical directives and CNAFINST 4790.2 Series
+ Knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures
+ Possess working knowledge of applicable aircraft
**Physical/Working Environment**
+ Recent experience with F-18A-F or EA-18G aircraft strongly preferred.
+ May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
+ May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
+ May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
+ May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
+ May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
**Compensation & Benefits** HIRING SALARY RANGE: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

**Essential Job Functions:**
Direct, coordinate and monitor all maintenance/material actions necessary to retain or restore aircraft, material, equipment or components to a serviceable condition with a minimum expenditure of resources in the most efficient practical manner. Shall have supervisory authority to direct work centers and personnel to accomplish specific maintenance actions as required to accomplish the mission. The Maintenance Control Representatives shall have an in-depth working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and all applicable T/M/S technical publications, which apply to their applicable T/M/S specific aircraft as well, have a working knowledge of the Special Projects / Flight Clearances / Interim Flight Clearances, which are applicable to their assigned T/M/S aircraft. They must have a working knowledge of the Aircraft Modification Instruction (VX-30/31 INST 13050/1 Series) process. These personnel will Release Aircraft Safe for Flight, monitor maintenance SCIR documentation via the NALCOMIS system, review Aircraft Weight and Balance forms for accuracy, direct scheduled/unscheduled maintenance actions to meet operational tasking identified by the Government/flight schedule, brief aircrew prior to FCF, review aircrew documentation of aircraft FCF performance, request cannibalization authorization from GMR when required, coordinate Depot Level Inspection/Repair actions, assign workload priorities, manage awaiting maintenance and material status, manage T/M/S Aircraft configuration, screen, maintain and sign Aeronautical Equipment Service Records, Aircraft Logbooks, liaison with Quality Assurance, liaison with Projects Coordinator, understand Navy Working Capital Fund concept, notify Government Oversight QAR's of all Flight Critical, Safety of Flight, and mandatory QA inspections, monitor high time components, establish supply priorities, and coordinate work center maintenance tasking to meet daily Flight Schedule and Ground Test Requirements
**Minimum Education and Experience Required:**

+ High school graduate or equivalent, plus successful completion of related military or commercial course.
+ Possess an extensive background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support with a minimum of 15 years of experience with 10 years of the last 15 years in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modification.
+ Of the ten years of experience in aircraft maintenance, six years shall be in a supervisory position that included responsibility for assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts.
+ Must have experience supervising daily flight operations personnel supporting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
+ Knowledgeable of technical directives and CNAFINST 4790.2 (series); be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures; possess a working knowledge of applicable aircraft and shall have worked a minimum of one year in a maintenance/production control position.
+ Capable of writing with clarify and technical accuracy.
+ Level III Mechanic or Electronics Technician qualified.
+ Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, MH-60S aircraft required.
+ Must have a valid driver's license.
+ Must possess a U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to maintain.
+ Must be available to work any shift.
