PRIMARY FUNCTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Aerospace Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for UAV design from sketch to prototype and production, including payload integrations and modifications. This role requires a strong background in aerospace engineering, project management, and a commitment to innovation and excellence.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and development of aerospace systems, including aircraft, and related components.
- Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of systems.
- Oversee the testing and validation of aerospace systems, including flight testing and other methods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerospace engineering.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as FAA, EASA, and NASA requirements.
- Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes and tools.
- Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in aerospace engineering, with a focus on design and development.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools, such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
- Strong understanding of autopilots and methods for flight tuning.
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials, structures, and propulsion systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with project management and leadership is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as FAA, EASA, and NASA requirements.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will require travel to support testing and integration activities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Aerospace Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:
- Be the engineering lead in support of flight control system development; aircraft modeling and simulation; analysis of aircraft flight dynamics; and ground and flight test support.
- Design, development, integration, and test of aircraft flight control systems and autopilots
- Develop, integrate, and validate models of aircraft flight dynamics and subsystems such as payloads, engines, transmissions, flight control components, and sensors

- Excellent documentation and report writing skills are essential for this position.
- Knowledge of sound engineering practices that may include such areas as requirement tracking, configuration control, technical communication, and/or the peer review process.
Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $91,600.00/Yr. - USD $153,000.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Essential Functions:

+ Identifies opportunities to reduce costs and minimize out of service time.
+ Maintains a focus on supporting both line maintenance users, contract field teams (CFT) and FST with corrective maintenance requests and technical guidance.
+ Coordinates the sourcing of approved parts, design solutions, and readiness improvement initiatives taking into consideration availability, cost, and operational needs.
+ Provides technical insight, support, direction and authorization to mechanics and vendors completing the assignment, overhaul, repair and planned maintenance of the VH-92A, supporting military and contractor personnel performance is in accordance with all established procedures and VH-92 maintenance standards.
+ Provides support to mechanics and Contractor Field Teams in identification of repair procedures and troubleshooting.
+ Provides technical input in the development of specific PM checks for all maintenance actions.
+ Participates in the identification, monitoring and performance against established maintenance practices and instructions
Required Qualifications:

+ Closely coordinates projects to ensure total maintenance accountability is maintained and coordinated between Maintenance Control and applicable work centers.
