Our client, a leader in aerospace innovation, is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design and development of critical aerospace components in Provo, Utah, US . This position is instrumental in shaping the future of flight through advanced engineering solutions. The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, analyzing, and validating mechanical systems and components for aircraft and spacecraft applications. You will lead a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical direction, mentoring, and ensuring the successful execution of design projects from concept to production. Key responsibilities include performing stress analysis, thermal analysis, and vibration analysis using FEA tools; creating detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings; and collaborating with manufacturing, testing, and systems engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and performance. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, specifically within the aerospace industry. Proven experience with complex assemblies, precision mechanisms, and high-performance materials is required. Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN) is essential. Strong understanding of GD&T, design for manufacturability (DFM), and aerospace industry standards is mandatory. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical for guiding design teams and interfacing with cross-functional departments.
