The **Agronomy Research Technician** will be responsible for supporting the agronomy efforts of the Hawaii Research Center with primary focus on crop protection activities necessary to reliably produce high quality seed for the research organization.
The research assistant will be performing tasks in the Agronomy Department, including but not limited to, working with crop protection, land planning and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), regulatory and equipment operation.
**Please note: there is no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance provided for this role.
**$1,500 SIGN ON BONUS!**
**What You'll Do:**
+ Operate tractor and implements to install and remove crop protection netting
+ Operate excavation equipment (mini-ex, backhoe)
+ Manage inventory of fencing supplies, crop protection netting, etc
+ Construct and maintain field fencing (hog wire and barbed wire)
+ Assist in coordination and supervision of labor allocated to crop protection
+ Install and maintain soil conservation practices (vetiver, windbreaks)
+ Clearly and consistently communicate with supervisor and associated stakeholders of activities and progress
+ Properly inspect and maintain agriculture equipment
+ Operate an ATV
+ Assist all other groups at the site, when needed/assigned (irrigation, weeding, pollination, IPM, etc)
+ Abide by all safety and PPE guidelines
+ Adhere to all location and company policies and procedures
**What Skills You Need:**
+ High school diploma/GED required.
+ 2 to 4 years of tropical agriculture experience in agriculture and farm equipment operation preferred.
+ Proficient in the use of computers with the ability to utilize Microsoft office products.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to read/interpret instructions and carry out tasks in absence of supervision.
+ Work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
+ Tolerance and ability to work in outdoor tropical agriculture setting.
+ Ability to communicate in English and work with others in a team setting and diverse cultural backgrounds and languages.
+ Valid driver's license required and CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
+ Ability to tow trailers.
+ Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays during seasonal peaks and/or based on field needs.
+ Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

The salary range for this position is $2,483.00 to 69,430.00.
This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
