Job Description
About Night
Night is a next-generation media company representing over 200 of the world's most influential digital creators. We also build creator-first tools and internal products through Night Labs, our product studio. This summer, we're shipping multiple engineering-led products across AI, internal tooling, mobile, and creator infrastructure-and we're looking for a versatile part-time engineer to help us move fast.
About the Role
We're hiring a Part-Time Contract Development Engineer to support several light- to medium-lift builds and integrations across our internal tools and creator platforms. This role is ideal for someone who can context-switch across projects, work independently, and quickly ship clean, functional code.
What You'll Work On
We're a small, fast-moving team tackling a wide range of ambitious problems. Depending on your interests and strengths, you'll have the opportunity to contribute across a spectrum of high-impact work, including:
- Product Engineering
Build and ship full-stack features across our user-facing products, often from scratch. This could include anything from internal tools and browser extensions to AI-powered interfaces and lightweight consumer apps. - AI-First Experiences
Design and implement novel AI-native workflows that blend language models with intuitive UX. You'll have room to experiment, prototype, and iterate quickly on utilities that go from 0→1 fast. - Systems Integration
Stitch together APIs, CRMs, and payments infrastructure to create smooth, scalable operational systems. If you enjoy connecting the dots between tools like Stripe, Supabase, Customer.io, and more-there's plenty to do. - Mobile & Native Development
Contribute to apps on macOS and iOS using Swift, React Native, or similar frameworks. We're building fluid, thoughtful companion experiences that live close to the user. - Internal Tools & Infrastructure
Support the foundations of the company-whether it's automating internal workflows, maintaining lightweight dashboards, or keeping our deployment stack humming. Small tweaks can have outsized leverage here. - Exploratory Projects
Jump into early-stage ideas, proof-of-concepts, or short-cycle experiments. Many of our best projects start with someone saying "what if." and then building a prototype the next day.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a strong full-stack generalist who can move quickly, think independently, and take ownership of projects end-to-end. While we don't expect expertise in every area, the ideal candidate will bring several of the following:
- Deep JavaScript/TypeScript expertise, especially with React, Next.js, Node.js
- An eye for clean UI and experience building fast, responsive interface
- A product-minded approach - you're excited to take vague ideas and turn them into real, shipped features
- Familiarity with AI tools and APIs, and the ability to prototype quickly with LLMs
- Bonus: Light iOS experience (Swift or React Native) or a background in ad tech/attribution systems
- Independent, fast-moving execution - you're reliable, proactive, and thrive with autonomy
- Flexible hours and remote-friendly
- Diverse, exciting projects across the creator economy and AI
- Opportunity to grow into a larger or full-time role if there's mutual fit
