Researchers have great independence to pursue the research directions they think would be most impactful as part of a small focused team with minimal bureaucracy. They are enabled by state-of-the-art research clusters with very high GPU-to-researcher ratios, and supported by excellent engineering, hardware, and systems teams to realize their vision. Your work will be directly, clearly, highly impactful on the business, and it will be challenging: this is a field with no easy or obvious solutions. You'll be responsible for improving every part of our models: from featurization of data, to architecture design, to training dynamics, to how trading decisions are made.
Qualifications
- Must have two or more years work experience in deep learning research, for any domain: robotics, biology, chemistry, physics, audio, video, etc.
- Experience translating methods between areas of application is highly valued.
- LLM experience is valuable, but not necessary.
- Strong engineering skills valued, especially any of: GPU kernel development, lower-level Pytorch/JAX development, intermediate C++, FPGA/ASIC experience, HPC experience.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $300,000 per year, based on job-related skills and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.

Skills You'll Need:
- Strong publication record at ICML, ICLR, AAAI, NeurIPS, UAI, KDD, or equivalent and/or contributions to open-source AI research

- Solid development skills in Python and/or C++

As an AI Researcher Technical Lead for our AI Software & Platform team, you will be responsible for leading an innovative team focused on the following:
+ Model Training, Optimization, and Evaluation: This encompasses the complete cycle of training, fine-tuning, and validating language models. You will be designing and adapting LLMs for use in virtual assistants, automated chatbots, content recommendation systems, etc.

**Basic Qualifications**

+ 2+ years of experience in Generative AI (GenAI) to include experience with prompt engineering, fine tuning of LLMs, and reasoning-based systems.
+ 2+ years of experience leading, coaching and mentoring engineering teams in a direct or indirect capacity

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
