**What You'll Do:**
+ Leads and/or operates various computer-based traffic management systems to manage traffic and incidents on roadways and improve traffic conditions.
+ Leads and/or monitors roadways via CCTV surveillance cameras and detection systems. Leads and/or monitors all traffic devices and computer equipment associated with the system.
+ Maintains advanced knowledge on the operation of all traffic equipment, computers and software associated with the traffic systems.
+ Utilizes traffic equipment for incident management and the improvement of travel time, safety, and quality of life of the traveling motorists and toll customers.
+ Continually checks the accuracy and validity of the messages displayed on all DMS and 511.
+ Aware of all 511 messages broad-casted on a particular system.
+ Ensures entry incident information into computer systems using traffic software.
+ Maintains expert knowledge with the roadways and understands the purpose and location of each traffic device (i.e. detector stations, CCTV, and 511).
+ Alerts operator staff to new and existing memos / information / changes.
+ Uses SOG to detect, dispatch, monitor, and document roadway incidents.
+ Confers with RTMC partners (highway patrol, Road Rangers, Local Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, etc.) as well as adjacent Traffic Management Centers or other DOT Districts to coordinate resources for incidents that may affect regional travel.
+ Dispatches Road Rangers and assist Road Rangers with other tasks, such as phone calls, etc.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**What You'll Need:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Safety or related degree and 5 years experience in a directly comparable role, or
+ In lieu of education, 9 years experience in a directly comparable role

+ Extensive Traffic Management Center Management experience overseeing a large diverse operations staff.
+ Ability to manage and process complex invoicing for the client.
+ Documented success in achieving required performance measures.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Monitor and control traffic management devices (CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs, etc.) across Davidson County highways.
+ Support first responders, emergency management, and law enforcement communications.

Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operators for immediate employment for statewide work in South Carolina for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Assigned in North Charleston, South Carolina, TMC.
Charleston TMC Hours of Operation - 6:00am-7:30pm. (Operational hours are subject to change to meet the needs of SCDOT (emergency, evacuation, storm response, etc.)
These positions require a consistent rotating schedule that varies by week that may include 12- 14 hour days. The minimum starting pay rate is $20.00/hour with promotional opportunities available after successful completion of six weeks of initial training and again at a minimum of a year of high performing operations meeting minimum standards. Offer is contingent on validation of SCDOT TMC training and performance requirements.
The position uses Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) software and web-based applications for monitoring freeways and managing events/incidents; dispatching incident management personnel; answering and responding to calls from State Highway Emergency Program (SHEP) Patrollers; and communicating, coordinating, and collaborating with other staff, SC Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety personnel, and partner agencies.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The position performs tasks in support of monitoring, detecting and responding to traffic related incidents, emergencies and needs for motorist assistance along regional interstates across the state of South Carolina.
SCDOT's transportation management program includes dispatch/operator staff in support of roadside assistance for stranded motorists on SC's freeways. AECOM dispatch/operator staff support SHEP field staff (patrollers) 7 days a week, 365 days per year, serving a critical role in the delivery of safety and mobility to the motoring public.
The routine responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Dispatch and coordinate SHEP patrollers, who provide roadside assistance for stranded motorists and response to roadway incidents and disruptions.
* Monitor field surveillance camera video and other information sources for the detection and verification of events that impact traffic flow and safety.
* Log potential and confirmed events that impact traffic flow and safety using software applications, including traffic lane and road shoulder closures related to construction and maintenance activity.

* Ability to operate software platforms and web-based applications.
* Must pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check.
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
* Ability to successfully pass post-employment 6-week SCDOT TMC training and performance program which is a condition of continued employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Previous experience working in a call center, customer service, 911 Operator or dispatching environment.
* Demonstrated ability to meet a high level of customer service expectations.

High-Level Description: The Senior Load Balance/Traffic Management Administrator leads enterprise-level traffic optimization, secure access enforcement, and service delivery continuity through advanced load balancing and DNS/IP management capabilities in support of critical intelligence mission systems.
Detailed Description: This role is responsible for the configuration, sustainment, and optimization of high-availability traffic management solutions using F5 and Infoblox platforms across multiple secure enclaves. The administrator will manage SSL/TLS offloading, enforce PKI-based authentication, and ensure the validity of digital certificates through automated monitoring and expiration alerts to prevent service disruptions. The position supports system scalability by provisioning virtual servers, defining VLANs, integrating servers with distribution switches, and maintaining STIG-compliant configurations across Windows, Linux, and virtual appliances.
Working in close coordination with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, the administrator supports the secure delivery of services through virtual environments (VMware vSphere, vCenter, Hyper-V), and leverages automation tools such as Terraform , Chef , and SCCM for baseline provisioning, patch deployment, and configuration enforcement. Responsibilities also include DNS/IPAM administration, print queue management, backup/recovery operations (NetBackup), and VM snapshot maintenance.
The administrator participates in monthly security template updates, leads traffic-related incident resolution, and collaborates on cross-domain platform integrations. All work is performed in a classified environment with visibility into system state, health, and performance via integrated AIOps dashboards and automated alerting systems. The administrator ensures that privileged and tenant users operate within least-privilege access models, contributing directly to mission readiness and continuity of operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Security+ CE certification and TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph required.
- 8+ years of experience in IT operations, with 5+ years specializing in enterprise load balancing, DNS, or traffic management.
- Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP (LTM, GTM) and Infoblox for IP/DNS management.
- Expertise in SSL/TLS offloading, PKI certificate integration, and automated certificate renewal and monitoring.
