**Analytical Engineer - dbt | Power BI | SQL**
**Why this role matters**
Our dbt project already spans ~800 models. You'll steer its evolution-keeping code clean, metrics trustworthy, and insights flowing into Power BI for every division at Cotton Holdings.
**Key Responsibilities**
**What you'll do**
+ **Own the dbt repo** : refactor models, enforce SQLFluff lint rules, and keep documentation/lineage current (Unity Catalog).
+ **Model for consumption** : design semantic layers and star/snowflake schemas that power tabular datasets in **Power BI** .
+ **Optimize & monitor** warehouse cost, refresh cadence, and query performance; surface trends to leadership.
+ **Build & teach** : craft high-impact Power BI dashboards, write DAX measures, and host workshops so business users can self-serve confidently.
+ **Partner** with Data Engineers on source-to-target mapping and with stakeholders to translate requirements into governed metrics.
**Skills, Knowledge and Expertise**
**What you bring**
+ 5+ years in analytics engineering, BI development, or data warehousing (SQL heavy).
+ Proven ownership of a **large-scale dbt** project (hundreds of models) and comfort with Git PR reviews/tests.
+ Advanced **Power BI** skills: dataset design, DAX, Tabular Editor; familiarity with other BI tools a plus.
+ Solid understanding of data governance, column-level lineage, and documentation best practices.
+ Nice-to-have certs: dbt Certified Analytics Engineer, Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300).

+ 7 or more years of related engineering experience
+ Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
+ Proficiency with MS Office applications
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Internship or work experience in performing power analysis, preferably within the power industry

WORK LOCATION: This position allows for a hybrid / flexible work schedule with a mix of work spent on site at the Sargent & Lundy office in the Atlanta-metro area of Peachtree Corners, Georgia and working remote from home.
This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Power Systems to provide power system modeling and analytical support interdisciplinary project teams. You will be involved in supporting the interconnection of new power generation resources - including onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage, and traditional thermal generation, transmission and distribution planning, design of new power plants - including thermal and renewable resources, modifications to existing power generation facilities, power system protection, and integration of new technologies such as electric vehicles, microgrids, and green hydrogen production.
Your work will have you perform the following types of studies:
+ + Power Flow
+ Short Circuit
+ Protection Coordination
+ Arc Flash
+ Transient and Dynamic Stability
+ Transient Over-voltage
+ Power Quality and Harmonics
+ System Impact
+ Cable Ampacity
+ Grounding
There is the potential for you to travel to client offices and project sites to provide on-site consultation
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
+ This position requires an BS in Electrical Engineering (background in Power/Power Systems) with a strong academic background and coursework emphasis in Power Systems Analysis. MSEE or Ph.D. is required.
+ An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
+ 5 or more years of related engineering experience
+ Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
+ Proficiency with MS Office applications
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
+ Internship or work experience in performing power analysis, preferably within the power industry
+ Experience performing analysis of power systems using software such as: PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, TARA, CYME, Synergi, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD and EMTP-RV
+ Strong working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, etc.
+ Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training
