Job Summary: This role collaborates with a nursing team to provide quality patient care. Reporting to a registered nurse, this person is someone enrolled in a University's Co-op program and seeking additional hands-on experience. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by an Accountable Nurse Leader to the department.
**Job Description:**
**Essential Responsibilities:**
1. Provides basic supportive care to patients including specific treatments and procedures related to Activities of Daily Living.
2. Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse including sterile dressing changes.
3. Collaborates with nursing staff to determine patient care plans.
4. Reports all patient activity to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
**Required Qualifications:**
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. 0-1 years related work experience required.
3. Patient care experience required through any of the following areas: CNA, MA, EMT, PCT certificate or completion of BIDMC in-house training program or Allied Health, Pre Med, and Physician Assistant candidates or Home Health Aide experience.
4. Enrolled in a University's Co-op program.
5. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
**Competencies:**
1. **Decision Making:** Ability to make decisions that are based on specific instructions, standard practices and established procedures which generally require little or no supervision.
2. **Problem Solving:** Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.
3. **Independence of Action:** Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided. Work is monitored by supervisor/manager.
4. **Written Communications:** Ability to read, and write in English in order to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with patients, families and other medical center staff; and respond to basic questions.
5. **Oral Communications:** Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions.
6. **Knowledge:** Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.
7. **Team Work:** Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
8. **Customer Service:** Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
**Age based Competencies:**
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.
**Physical Nature of the Job:**
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Harford Community College is currently seeking workforce and continuing education Allied Health Instructors.
Duties include but are not limited to:
+ Distribution and review of class syllabus with students
+ Delivering instruction as assigned, in the format required by the College
+ Assessing student outcomes through exams, quizzes, and other graded assignments where appropriate
+ Communication with students to support learning and goal achievement, referring students to services available to them as needed
+ Submitting required attendance & grades
+ Adhering to FERPA records protection laws
+ Staying current in methods and/or software needed to deliver instruction as assigned;
+ Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.

**Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities**
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Exhibit a strong desire to support student success and prepare students for employment in healthcare.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Professional experience in the discipline.
Experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) and classroom technology.
