Position Overview

Wakefern Food Corp’s Technical Division is seeking an experienced and innovative Application Architect to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable application solutions that support our business operations across the organization, with a particular emphasis on optimizing and enhancing supply chain processes. This is a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of goods, data, and services from suppliers to stores, leveraging technology to drive efficiency and resilience throughout our supply chain network.


Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the implementation of complex application architectures that align with business needs and IT strategy, focusing on solutions that streamline workflows and improve end-to-end operational visibility.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and key stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions that address real-world logistics and inventory challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture roles, ideally with significant exposure to logistics or related domains.
  • Strong proficiency in designing enterprise-level applications using modern frameworks (e.g., Java, NodeJS, Python, SQL), with direct application to business operations preferred.
  • Experience with integration platform as a service (iPaaS) systems and/or event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, particularly as they apply to real-time data integration.
  • In-depth knowledge of API design, integration, and security best practices, including for partner connectivity and EDI transactions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a complex environment, with demonstrated success supporting initiatives in logistics or inventory management.
  • Experience working in the retail, logistics, or distribution industry is a plus.
  • Experience with IBM mainframe is a plus.

+ Management of an Iris database. While Baystate DBAs are ultimately responsible for managing the database for space, updates, etc, the architect must be able to monitor, adjust and troubleshoot licensing, processes, locks, etc
+ Basic Linux commands to troubleshoot issues on the CB host server such as print queue issues, as well as to develop basic scripts
+ SQL Server - database and table creation for new applications, SQL server queries, job scheduling
+ Oracle and PLSQL - able to write stored procedures, table maintenance

The Principal Applications Architect will bring a balance of technology and business strategy focus to company.

What you'll do:
  • Specialize in one or more business verticals of company to provide domain specific solutions.
  • Work with the project teams to recommend the architecture approach for applications and define in an increasing level of detail as the project progresses.
  • Lead design review process and ensure recommendations made are understood by recipients and are monitored during the project life cycle.

Our client is seeking an experienced ArcGIS Geospatial Architect and Development Lead to drive data

analytics projects involving Medicaid and CHIP clients and provider data. This role will architect and

oversee the development, integration, and governance of enterprise GIS solutions, ensuring alignment

with organizational strategies, data policies, and public health objectives. The ideal candidate will

combine technical expertise in Esri ArcGIS, leadership in geospatial data governance and data

management, as well as a strong understanding of Health and Human Services Medicaid program

delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation, and governance of ArcGIS-based geospatial solutions for

mapping healthcare clients and provider locations, ensuring data quality, security, and

compliance with state and federal policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain geospatial data architectures, workflows, and metadata standards to

support enterprise mapping and analytics needs
• Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to gather

requirements, define governance frameworks, and ensure effective data sharing and integration
• Oversee the creation and management of GIS datasets, including demographic, socioeconomic,

health, and program data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Mentor and guide GIS analysts and developers, providing best practices for spatial analysis, web

mapping, and data visualization using ArcGIS tools
• As the single point of contact for the IT organization, collaborate and coordinate with GIS data

analysts and data scientists to:

o Establish and enforce geospatial data management policies, documentation standards,

and quality assurance processes

o Conduct Advise and oversee advanced spatial analyses to inform public health initiatives

and track compliance to contract requirements

o Prepare and present technical reports, dashboards, and interactive web maps for

executive leadership and external stakeholders

Requirements
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Public Health, or related

field
• 7+ years of professional experience in GIS, with at least 3 years in a lead or architect role in

cloud architectures, preferably in health, human services, or government sectors
• Expert-level proficiency in Esri ArcGIS (including ArcGIS Pro Advanced database management

and network analyst toolboxes), including data management, geocoding, spatial analysis, and

web mapping application development
• 5+ years of experience working with SQL Server Enterprise Geodatabases leveraging ArcGIS

tools for management of geospatial data
• 5+ years of experience with Python and SQL, including writing functions and procedures
• 2+ years of experience working in an agile/scrum development lifecycle environment
• Demonstrated experience in geospatial governance, including policy development, stakeholder

engagement, and decision-making frameworks
• Strong knowledge of data management principles, metadata standards, and data quality

assurance
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work independently

Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with Medicaid, public health, or social services programs, systems and datasets
• Certifications in GIS (e.g., Esri Enterprise System Design Professional, Esri ArcGIS Enterprise

Administration Professional, GISP)
• Experience leveraging machine learning and LLMs for data extraction, cleaning, and

documentation
• GeoAI for spatial data analysis and prediction and/or generative AI to enhance various aspects

of Geospatial Analytics Platforms
• Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouses, especially as a source/target for ArcGIS

integrations
• Custom web-based application interfaces and tools
