- MUST HAVE MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE

Position Overview
The Applications Engineering Manager at Aqua-Chem provides leadership to the Application Engineering team in performing complex technical assignments such as review specifications, selection of equipment and execution of projects from receipt of RFQ through Receipt of Award and turnover to execution team. Essential Duties:
- Performing consulting services such as technical and financial feasibility studies, innovative concept development, system choices, (circular) process design and techno-economic evaluation. As well as smart data usage, process optimization, operational business support and troubleshooting.
- Intensive collaboration with the sales team by providing advice and information on technical solutions. Together, you are responsible for preparing project plans and arriving at a winning solution.
- Making design calculations of complex plants for processing organic residuals, wastewater, and resource recovery, including mass balances and Opex estimates.
- Supervise lab and pilot research, review and report test results, and translate them into customer-specific applications.
- Conducting on-site surveys to deliver process technology consulting projects.
- Translating theoretical knowledge and research results into (new) technological designs (e.g. PFD and P&IDs) and ensuring a successful market introduction of these products.
- Technical reporting of the feasibility studies, recording design principles in notes or in log sheets.
- Assist in preparation of proposal drawings, e.g. Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), and General Arrangement (GA) drawings
- Assist with obtaining technical quotes for non-standard equipment/components.
- Work directly with Project Engineers during technical execution of the project
- Check the work of other Process Design Engineers
- Mentoring and training of other Process Design Engineers
- Ability to lead small teams of other Process Design Engineers and Sales in the development of proposals
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Bioprocess technology.

Role: Application Engineering Specialist
Mission/Purpose: Lead product design, performance, and reliability of new Frame or Cradle structural products programs, through a coordinated interface with the customer and with internal company resources to ensure product meet time and quality requirements.
What does a day-in-the-life look like?
- To Be the liaison for Customer Engineering on Structural products and all product related issues to understand design priorities and manage engineering programs and projects, propose solutions within current team or redirect to proper department
- To Consolidate agreements with customer and plant to determine design, performance, and dimensional requirements for Structural products follow to (MES).
- To Generate design improvements ideas to achieve lighter weight, stronger, better performing, and lower cost designs through brainstorming workshop or regular meetings with MDT.
- To Support new product launch activity at the customer and at Metalsa facilities following MES and information generated by the plant, activity includes to mention a few but not limited to:
- Weld quality visual inspection and length vs weld document
- Ensure build level to release
- Dimensional reports are compliant to Customer general GD&T
- Hole inspection for presence, added and or removed parts
- To Support other technical department activity and communicate overall activities and status such testing updates, Prototypes Status, to mention a few.
- To Manage Design Release Package (BOM, 3D 2D etc.), by using Metalsa Project System to ensure product launch in quality and time.
- To Approve or reject Deviations (with AE Co. supervision) from manufacturing process following Metalsa Quality Standards to track changes versus original design by using CAE, statistic, tolerance dimensional to mention a few.
- To Support to Innovation, DFSS, De-couple projects by follow up with multidisciplinary teams in order to meet project objectives in time and quality.
- To Lead Product verification workshop according to MPS to ensure feasible product.
- To Support quotation process, service parts, on early stages by providing documentation and interaction with multidisciplinary teams.
- To Monitor Design KPI, and provide Design and Development Engineering performance data for Quality Management System (MPS) according with Technical Process Sheet to track our Quality System deliverables all programs on OEM (Chief) Per program (AE)

**What you'll do:**
- Setting and achievement of team goals
- Strategic allocation of technical project resources
- Lead the application engineering department and the position's direct reports.
- Lead and participate in engineering projects and proposals for customers from receipt of purchase order through timely completion of project documentation
- Create and maintain project tracking tools, help set metrics and goals, ensure timely completion
- Implement lean principles to improve processes and eliminate waste
- Participate in, gather, and analyze VOC input and feedback to ensure services and products are meeting customer expectations
- Work with internal and external engineering resources as necessary to sign off on project plans or new product applications
- Perform project design tasks, including but not limited to; project take-off, development of scope documents, drawing layouts, submittal creation, release schedules, post order documentation creation, etc.
- Works with customer & outside sales to develop cost effective solutions to meet the customer and project needs.
- Report potential/actual problems requiring attention and provides alternative solutions when identified for project completion.
- Upgrade, develop and deploy tools supporting technical services, engineering process automation, design configuration, ease-of-doing-business customer tools
- Support the Sales and Marketing teams with technical presentations and trainings to internal & external customers
- Develop team members, foster a learning culture, establish an environment for open sharing and improvement
- Other duties as necessary
**Qualifications:**
**Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of application engineering, sales engineering, or customer service experience within the manufacturing industry.
- No relocation is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY will be considered. Active-Duty military service members are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

The Director, Application Engineering will be responsible for managing multiple teams of brilliant Application Engineers and QA resources to build the award-winning products we offer to our clients. **WHAT YOU'LL DO**
+ Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; will ultimately be accountable for the success or failure of all team projects
+ Motivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activities
+ Coaches team members, helping them develop into more senior/experienced resources
+ Works with the Business Product Owners to identify priorities for Application Development and enhancements; acquires resources for projects to fit the current and future needs of the Business
+ Works closely and cohesively with other Managers within Technology, as well as with key stakeholders in related departments
+ Helps other Technology Managers set and implement policies and procedures related to application quality, standards, and testing
+ Plays an integral part in establishing, driving, and enhancing processes and procedures within the team, and within the Technology department as a whole
+ Establishes training offerings, suited for individuals' needs, for them to progress
+ Establishes priorities for Lead Application Engineers and ensures that they have guidance and coaching in mentoring other team members
**WHAT YOU'LL NEED**
+ 8+ years' experience managing Technology related staff and/or projects
+ 8+ years' experience with Application Development
+ Strong desire to succeed and help others succeed
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
