Description

General Description:

The Aquatic Center Technician is responsible for instructing swimming lessons at the pool facility and maintaining safety. This position Reports to the Athletic Director and maintains no more than 25 hours per week. Schedules may vary according to need.

Examples of Duties

Essential Job Duties:
1. Responsible for the safety of all individuals enrolled in all classes held at CFK pool.
2. Ensures that under no condition the pool is left unattended when there are people swimming in the pool.
3. Gives aid to those in distress and administers First Aid and C.P.R. According to industry standards.
4. Teaches aquatic classes and lifeguards if certified.
5. Maintains order in the swimming pool facility and ensures proper use of all available equipment for compliance with safety standards.
6. Opens and closes the pool facility as needed.
7. Completes necessary course roster forms, Accident/Incident forms, and time sheets in an accurate and timely manner.
8. Completes maintenance tasks or pool operation procedure assigned by the Athletic Director.
9. Participates in staff meetings and training sessions.
10. Follows the guidelines set forth in the Aquatic Staff manual.
Assists in supporting events at the aquatic facility or off-site for college sanctioned events.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of all safety guidelines set forth in the Aquatic Staff Manual.
• Knowledge of proper swimming strokes and techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain a harmonious working relationship with fellow employees and pool patrons.

Education and Qualifications:

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
• Current certifications in American Red Cross or equivalent required:
1. Lifeguard Training if performing duties as such.
2. Standard First Aid
3. C.P.R. for the Professional Rescuer
4. Water Safety instructor or equivalent experience for classes instructing

• Moderate (15-44lbs) lifting Environmental Conditions:

+ Administrative Duties - maintain field-generated and office records, perform data entry, prepare logbooks, procedures, as-built drawings, O&M's, safety training, work order utilization, etc. Complete PQS qualification of assigned venues. + Emergency Response and Incident Prevention- inspect for release controls to include secondary containments, spill equipment, response supplies, erosion control, storm conveyance systems, emergency pumps, overfill protections. Respond to environmental incidents and take immediate action to control and/or stop further release related to water, chemicals and/or waste and perform proper cleaning/remediation when necessary. Activate UO incident response as necessary and in accordance with EHS policy and regulation.
+ Performs modifications of electrical, mechanical and pool/venue systems per UO Engineering or OEM specifications and direction.
+ Chemical/Waste Management - ensure proper labeling, handling, application, inspection, storage and disposal of water, aquatic pest control and regulated waste. Ensures waste is prepared for proper transport as required.
+ Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:
+ Associate degree (AS) in physical, biological, or chemical sciences, or equivalent, is preferred.
+ Technical School in Electrical or Mechanical Field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:

About the Role:
Watershed Protection Division staff are principally engaged in the development and implementation of regulatory compliance strategies that balance protection of the natural environment with the District's mission to responsibly manage stormwater in service of safe, sustainable and livable communities. This role requires a detailed understanding of urban stormwater quality management, and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits governing the construction, operation and maintenance of stormwater management infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and coordinating implementation of stormwater management practices and NPDES permit compliance actions.
  • Collecting and analyzing environmental quality data to evaluate aquatic ecosystem health and inform management decisions.

Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues.
